I do not see anything good at all about the prius other then its gas mileage, but there are other cars that do the same or even better, so why did you buy a prius?
What is fasle? and i'm in the market for a car and didnt really see anything in the prius so i was wondering why people buy them and if I missed anything while checking them out.
And what cars would those be, seems I missed something? The most competitive mpg to the Prius is the Jetta Tdi and in real world everyday driving the Prius, much to my surprise, blew that comparison away. 25,000 miles driven in a 2010 TDI and 5 k in the 2011 Prius. I would not go back simply based on the mpg, but for other reasons as well.
Well, let's see. Very low emission. Very low total cost of ownership. Very reliable. Very easy to maintain. Very smooth and relaxing drive.
There are NO other 5 passenger, mid-sized cars that get 46 mpg average over their life (as my 2004 Prius with 220k miles has done) and still can do zero to 60 in under 10 seconds. JeffD
I've been driving cars, trucks, and buses for over 53 years. The Prius is the best car out there. The pluses for the Prius are too numerous to mention.
Please name currently sold mass market fully street and highway legal cars in the US that do the "same or even better" in mileage.
At the time, these were my reasons: http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii...502-2010-prius-school-project.html#post979468 Today it has over 90,000 miles in 3 years, and has needed no repairs (Oil change and tire rotation every 5000 miles, air filters every 30,000 miles, tires every 45,000 miles, Transaxle fluid every 60,000 miles) except two tail lights. About $4. It has saved me over $6000 in gasoline in 3 years. Eight foot lumber fits easy, a 10 foot 2 by 4 is possible inside the car. I have a 'church lady' I take to the hospital to replace body parts, (hips, knees, etc.) she swears it is the best car for her. Low liftover height for her legs. If I were in the market today, the Prius v would be my baseline to compare against. I could get even more stuff in it.
My Prius v can carry these guys with room to spare, and with help from the Nav system, hands free phone and voice recognition it's a damned good work vehicle. Iff you have an idea of another vehicle where I can easily get 44mpg, with the level of technology and amount of cargo space for the price, I'll eat my Prius.
Because it's the best-looking car on the market. In fact, that's pretty much the ONLY reason I bought it.
The Honda Civic Hybrid gets 45 but its to boring Ford Fiesta ECOnetic gets 63 Mercedes-Benz C 250 CDI (the only one on the list i would consider) and has as much space then the prius The smart car but thats to stupid Volkswagen Polo BlueMotion around 60 The Toyota iQ but also to stupid The Ford Ka
you should try actually driving all these cars you list. pri is only one that lives up to the hype. look at the sales numbers.
These cars cannot carry as large of cargo as a Prius. Nor do they get as good Mileage. I bet they pollute more. These cars are not imported to the US, so I could not have chosen them. If I had to guess, you are somewhere in Europe, the Prius gets 60.3 mpg (US Gallons, 72.4 MPG in UK Gallons) according to the European tests. At least in the US, Diesel fuel is 8% higher than regular gas, so a Diesel would need to get more than 64.9 MPG US on the European test to be cheaper to drive than a Prius. Here is a third party test of cars available in the US http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/...st-city-highway-mpg/best-city-highway-mpg.htm
HCH is EPA rated at 44 mpg combined. AFAIK, we don't have that Mercedes and the Mercedes C Class is classified as a compact by the EPA vs. the midsized Prius (see Compare Side-by-Side). All the others except the IQ don't exist in the US. Please also state your sources for your mileage figures. I suspect you're comparing apples to oranges (e.g. inflated European figures and possibly using Imperial gallons.) Per Compare Side-by-Side, Scion iQ is EPA rated at 37 mpg combined vs. 50 mpg combined for the '12 Prius. And the iQ only seats 2 and is a WAY smaller minicompact.
Yep, 72.4 miles per Imperial gallon per Select a search : Directgov - Car fuel data, CO2 and vehicle tax tools or 76.3 on the extra urban test.
Find me a car that: Is no more than six years old Has under 100k miles Has a KBB value under $15k Doesn't require me to ever take a key out of my pocket. And you'll find the Prius.
If it had a MFD, it would say 99.9 MPG. Since someone else is driving, you don't need to worry about Bluetooth and now have both your hands free. Cargo space is greater. I'm curious--does the Prius taste green?
