I think most refer to those as the marker lights... at least I do.

It's the other way around. The front side marker lights have the orange lens and the white parking lights are supposed to be LEDs on the 2012 Five. That's how the vast majority of us as well as the owners manual call them.

    Ok, got it.
You're correct.... the marker lights with the orange lens on the Five are incandescent- I replaced those bulbs with LED's On Saturday.
On the 2012 Five (my car) it seems the Parking lights are LEDs and are actually integrated into the front lens assembly- they resemble a ribbon/sharktooth line that forms an almost "Z" shaped pattern in the lens assembly. I have the PDF user manual for the 2011 Five and it shows a discrete plug for the parking LEDS- that doesn't exist on the updated headlight lens assembly on the 2012 Five.

    Sorry for the confusion....

The difference is the 2010/11 Fives use incandescent parking lights and hence have a discrete plug for them. The 2012 Five's parking lights are LEDs, which I imagine are already a perfect match for the LED headlights (unlike the yellow incandescent parking lights), so it's one less thing to upgrade.

These projector 194 LED looks amazing! I wonder how long they will last. My parking light bulb tent to burn out because of heat in summer and the enclosures of the headlamp assembly.

Wish they would switch over to LED's all around in the Five rather then the mix-n-match of LED/incandescent they use in the 2012's.

So on the 2012 Five we have:

LED: low beam headlights, parking lights, DRL's, Stop and tail lights, high mounted stoplight

Incandescent: (Halogen) High-beam's, fog lights, front marker lights, front turn signals, rear turn signals, backup lights, license plate lights

Does that cover the exterior lighting accurately?

Yes. You can replace most of the incandescent bulbs with LEDs if you desire. It's too bad that they didn't make the taillights full LED for 2012, but you can always upgrade to the Valenti taillights if you truly want LEDs all around.

I wanted to switch out the Parking Light to LED 6000k, anyone know where I can get a bulb that would match the Morimoto HID I ordered?

Does anyone know of LED turn signal bulbs that don't require a new resistor?

Check ijdmtoy. They have a few bulbs that you may be looking for. They're the European error free bulbs.

2012 models all have LED DRL's already.

All you have to do is get LEDs rated at 6000K like this Xenon white iJDMToy.

Hmm do the 2010-2011 parking lights point straight up or are the pointing forward like the headlights?

Point up so you need the 360-degree type.

Figures. So what is the point of the projector style LED?

I suppose it's just the type of bulb that the OP acquired. I'd gladly accept a projector style LED if it's a perfect match to the LED headllights, but so far, I haven't found any 360-deg SMD LED that's an acceptable match to the LED headlights.

I'm currently using 501 W5W Xenon Extreme White Side light bulb Light output sucks as it's a blue-tinted halogen, but it's a better match for the LED headlights than any LED bulbs that I've tested so far, including the 5100K natural white WLED-WHP5 from sueprbrightleds (too white) and 6000K iJDMToys (too blue).

From what I can tell, the multi-LED SMDs tend to be too tall and will stick too far up through the bulb hole such that you will see this ugly "stack" of circuit boards and LEDs. Maybe a short stack with less LEDs is the way to go? This includes the projector LED the OP highlighted. It is really tall compared tote OE bulb so that you will see this stalk protruding from the hole.

That's unfortunately a drawback of using multi-LED SMDs and you do have to put up with the ugly stack of circuit boards and yellow panels. Fewer LEDs isn't necessarily the way to go. You actually see less of the yellow on the 12-SMD iJDMToy than the 9-SMD WLED-WHP5 and the iJDMToy has a much shorter stack compared to other 12-SMDs. The blue-tinted halogens I'm using are less of an eyesore than the ugly stack of yellow panels but are more noticeable than the clear OE bulbs (which are best appearance-wise). The OP's projector style LED, despite being tall, is probably also less of an eyesore as it's chrome instead of yellow.
