The manual lists a ton of personalized settings that either you or the dealer can set. Problem is, I can't find in the manual where it describes how to set these personalized settings. After bouncing around briefly in these forums, I found that you can set the smart door unlock so that it unlocks all doors instead of just the drivers side. It's pretty easy. You just get close to the car and hold lock and unlock down for about 5 seconds on your key fob. After 5 seconds you will hear two beeps. Two beeps means that all the doors unlock now when you use the smart door. Three beeps means only the drivers side door opens. One of those simple things that makes life better. Anyone know how to set any other personalized settings?
Page 538 or so of the manual shows all the customizable settings, most are settable from the nav system, go to setup>Vehicle Customization>custom settings Peter+
Peter, Do you have the Premium HDD Navigation on the v Five? Or do you have the Display Audio on the v Three? I have a v Three and there is no Vehicle Customization button on my setup screen ********************** Edit ********************** So I went to my car and turned it on and hit settings. Vehicle customization button was there. If you have the car turned on completely the vehicle button is there. If you have the battery on just for radio, the button is not there. So now I've set headlight shutoff to 0 seconds and set the smart door to open all doors with one touch on the handle.
OK; Call me dense... Where in the (huge) manual is that described? I couldn't find it! (BTW - I have a trim 3, and am looking for the SKS system to unlock all 4 doors when I grab the driver's handle.) Aloha, John
Found it in the forums here relating to another Prius model. Figured I would give it a try and lo and behold it works. Love opening all four doors by just grabbing the handle and not fiddling with the keys! Just get close to the door and hold down lock and unlock on the key fob at the same time until you hear the two beeps. From then on, wonderfullness... I skimmed the manual, so I can't say it's not there...
The guide on page 538 says what page the customization is actually described if I recall correctly. Peter+
Actuallly it doesnt. The Vehicle manual says that you can program certian functions with the NAV System but doesnt explain how. It says to look at the nav manual for programming info. The Nav manual says nothing about how to customize these settings and says for an explanation look in the vehicle manual.
From page 124 of the Nav. System owner's manual: Vehicle customization Step1 press setup Step2 touch Vehicle Step3 touch Vehicle customization Step4 touch the desired items to be set - For a list of the setting that can be changed, refer to Owner's manual. Step5 After changing the settings, touch "save". ... And here is a link to that section of the Owner's manual. Note the three rightmost narrow columns. Read first page of link to see how the columns show what settings can only be done by the dealer (or ScanGuage if you play with the on-board diagnostics (OBD) toys). http://www.toyota.com/t3Portal/document/om/OM47674U/pdf/sec_06-02.pdf
Just thought I would chime in here it might be obvious to most but I thought I would state it anyway. The reason only the driver door opens by default is safety. Lets say your wife is parked in a car lot at night, she opens the door she wants to make sure the others doors don't open as well. Call me paranoid but I like that safety feature stops some one rushing the car and getting in the other side. It only takes two quick clicks of the remote to open all the doors if you out with family and friends. Just my 2 cents paranoid
I was searching for the same solution for my regular 2011 Prius (non-v). It worked like a charm. Thank you if you are still following this thread.
This blog has been so helpful in so many ways. Thanks for the locks trick. Thought it was only possible in the V5. Wayne
rjparker and joeruo look like they have prius v (wagon) 3s and posted that they got the procedure to work. See their posts above.
