 How do I defeat the daytime running lights on a 2003 Prius and still have the headlights turn on and off with the switch on the turnsignal lever the same as my new Camry. The daytime brightness is 90% as bright as regular low beams and I don't feel I need that electrical draw when I don't need headlights.

I just asked this very question last night.. except my ordeal is, I keep forgetting to turn my lights on for night driving. only got one reply which was: "not that I know of. You'll get used to having to turn your lights on. There is a dashboard indicator for when they're on, and I quickly made a habit of it being on whenever it was dark or I needed wipers."

But I agree with you 100% if it isn't a law, why waste juice?

Do you remove the dash to access this relay?

Unfortunatley , yes, but it can be done more difficult by reaching under the dash at the driver side (just take out the connector)

You might want to look at the Art's Automotive page on replacing the key transponder ECU. The first black box he came to, which annoyed him because it wasn't the right one and had to be moved out of the way, might be roughly where the right one is for you. Then again it might not (the illustrations can be a little vague).
