When entering my 2007 Prius it now thinks that both there is a key present and no key present. It shows both the red key in the car and the yellow no key present. The no key present takes presidence and the car won't start. It will usually sense only the key in a minute or two, but I am always worried it won't ultimately sense the key. Any ideas?

Either something is interfering with the key or you need a new battery in the fob, or a new 12 volt battery for the car. I have two cars and one key interferes with the other. Also if I put my smartphone in the same pocket as my key the car displays the no key detected message.

My guess is you just need a new battery for the fob. If it has the original batteries then 5 years is probably about all you will get out of them. The car should start if you take your fob and press the start button with it.

Good idea...I have two fobs. The problem occurs with both of them. They are both the original fobs. Would this make sense to have the exact same problem with both fobs?

They can wear out in three years or less depending on where they are stored. The closer they are to anything that emits a signal the quicker they will wear out. Your key is always working looking for a signal. When it is near a cellphone it can wear out very quickly.

it may be time for a new 12V battery as this is just one of at least a dozen tells that the Prius can throw at you to indicate the 12V battery is getting weak.
