    Final thoughts
I never thought this thread would go "negative" so fast. I want to thank "Jack" with "Enginer" for his post. I have no personal interest in the success or failure of any PHEV "supplier" or "conversion" corporate group. I am sure every1 is famliar with phev eaa and calcars and their knowledge base and would behove some of us to "study" that before making some fairly obvious or just plain negative posts.

Enginer attracts the end user with both cost and simplicity with some drawbacks. Plug in Supply attracts end users as well with drawbacks. For me these two (Enginer or PIS) would be my choice. The 4KW Enginer kit has been shown on both Gen 1 and 2 Prius to have achieved success(three examples) IMHO
Plug in Supply 10KW as well IMHO.

topics only get negative if people respond neg. on post that seem or are negative because that causes the negativity to prolong.
so just don't take it to harch

My apologies to the readers for the misspelled word, I hate typing on my cellular phone with auto word insertion.
My expression meant to be " stand" behind their product.
NortTexSalv04Prius, for being a newbie, you are coming to strong to the board.

Going back to the original question (how hard is it to install Enginer kit DIY): I have had a positive experience doing it myself. That being said, I didn't buy the kit directly from Enginer, but rather through a local installer, who bench tested it for me to make sure (presumably, they didn't itemize exactly what they did) all the components were working properly. I suspect they did some of the aforementioned "calibration" work, too. I took the kit home, disassembled the car interior and put the whole thing in myself with the help of a (very non-technical) buddy. I do have a technical background so I wasn't intimidated by HV, voltmeters, or soldering irons. The installer also gave me some additional pointers on how to start up the pack and make sure it was working correctly. They were great.

It probably took me 12 hours or so total (mostly just my own labor, buddy helped mainly only with the heavy lifting), including install of EV button, tachometer (my add-on based on Hobbit's directions -- involves same ECU area) and scangauge. I'd say at least 4 of those hours were the EV button install. The hardest parts were the pulling and prying at plastic trim while not breaking too many plastic fasteners. If you've done any work on your dash already, it will be easier.

I've been running for 2+ weeks now with only 1 triangle of death (not a big deal if you have a scangauge!)

Much to my pleasant surprise, it worked right off the bat, no issues. Saved some $$$. Plus, it was fun.

I am in the semiconductor business. And, of course everything fails with time. Even granite.

I am not aware of PIS having any drawbacks. What drawbacks are you referring to?

Are you talking about 3 per million in manufacturer's defect caught at the factory? or 3 per million in real world operation? You just said everything fails with time so that means the semiconductors in your business has a much higher failure rate than 3 per mil.

    Flying White Dutchman,

My red triangle was a P0000 code (which I gather is caused by when the current from the Enginer pack to the OEM battery is too high and the Prius freaks out). I was stomping on the accelerator pretty hard at the time while the SOC was low.

    Hi Dutch,
0000 is the "other" code. This is what you get when the computer does not know what code to give. So P0000 is "Powersystem Other".

    Thanks,
    Dan

The DTC code 0000 I have gotten this code on my vehicle too. My first thoughts where what is the meaning and more important what would the code mean to a qualified toyota hybrid "mech" or "tech".
In my case I had other codes and componet failures and the 0000 end up being of no significant interpretation.

When getting DTC with Enginer kit in Gen 2 Prius, it is most likely the traction battery is drained too low in EV mode or the converter output exceeds 15A. The converter current can be adjusted downward to prevent over current DTC.
