After one and a half months my prius finally came to the dealership. But I found out the lot porter mis-handle when he transfer my prius between dealseship and storage by drive it on the highway, blasting the radio and making the driver seat carpet area dirty. I'm I too picky for reject the car because of those reason? If you were me, will you still take it as it is or wait for another one?

You don't get a new car every day. I would wait for one that is more pristine (but I'm picky -- I turned down a new car because someone had smoked in it earlier some years ago).

If you aren't happy now, you won't be any happier when you look at the stained carpet in 2 years.

Besides the porter, there have been numerous drivers in that car; from driving it off the factory assembly line, to loading on to the ship, to unloading at port, to driving it on to a truck or rail car, to...... etc.

IMO, yes you are being too picky. Have the dealership give it an extra good detailing before you take the keys, errr, FOB's. :)

This is a car, not a beauty pageant. Complain to your dealer, have them detail it, and enjoy the next several 100,000km of high mpg, low maintenance driving.

I would still take it, but i would make the dealership feel the pain. I'd make them detail it or provide a new floor mat.

You are not likely to get a pristine, only one other person driving the car. Cars get driven by many different people before we purchase. As long as the mileage isn't goofy then you know it's just gone through the normal process.

One thing I specified on my order was "no test drives". And I also don't want any dealership logos.

I will try to see if they can remove the stain on the carpet, since the stain is on the carpet, not on the floor mat.

I understand this is a car, not a beauty pageant. But I my expectation are high when I paying over CAD$42000 for a car.

Wow, I totally would not accept a car that had been defaced like that.

I, too, require that my new car not be used on test drives and that it have no dealer badges.

Your expectations, as you say, should be high when you are paying that much for a new car.

Because I got the key from the salesman and check out right after the lot porter place the prius on the lot. When I start the car and check odo reading, the radio are in very high volume, windshield wiper speed in high position, blower speed are in high position. Protective cover on the driver seat was ripped and dumped on the back seat. Driver seat carpet area (not on the floor mat) have stain.

Nope. This is happen on Tuesday night and I told them I wouldn't take that. Yesterday (Wednesday night) I go back again and see when will the next one arrive. They told me they already apply rust proofing and install remote start on that prius (both items I bought it when I place an order) and I am give them a hard time since they need to take it off. I told them it's your problem since I already said I don't want it on Tuesday and I will wait for a next one but they continue to apply rust proofing and install remote start on Wednesday morning.

Update: They willing to arrange another prius for me but I need to wait till early march. Since I have a car to drive for now so I choose to wait.

I rather not to disclosure the dealer name for now since they willing to woork it out for me (for now?).

Have them clean it first and then decide after you inspect their work.

I think both sides of this argument are correct.

I think you could accept the vehicle and more than likely have no problem with it, and it be perfectly fine.

However? You're paying for it. IMO if for any reason you are not comfortable? Then by all means wait.

Like any purchase, I think the consumer has a right to be as happy as possible. The time to back out and wait for another one is now. Better that, then compromise with yourself and then forever be second guessing everything about the vehicle.

I think the OP could of made either decision. To accept delivery...or to reject and await another. But the thing the OP should not do, is anything that makes them unhappy or uncomfortable.

You can afford to wait? You want a more pristine vehicle upon delivery? Then do it...your money, your choice.

$42,000 CAD?!?! That's about the same amount in USD! I like to know kind of option and package you added on to that PRIUS?!?!

I was about to say something like, 'dude, it's a Prius, not a Bimmer or a Benz.', but being a former BMW 335i owner myself... that price you paid for the PRIUS is just a about a couple of thousands away from a nicely equipped BMW 335i, except you wouldn't get the nice MPG or KPG.

At that price, I recommend you get the dealer to REPLACE that carpet and REPLACE the car's speakers or wait for the next one for sure.
