I just got an email from Toyota my PIP is on the high seas, on its way to NJ.
Build date was Feb 1st. I wonder which ship it's on, and if its passed through the Panama canal yet.

 

Well...given my recent post? Glad to hear some excitement in the air. I'm going to be so jealous of you guys. Please share your experience so I can "plug in" vicariously.

Paradox and LenP, did you get the shipping confirmation email before or after your "my order" page (at https://auth2.toyota.com/order/prius/) was updated to show dates next to "Your Plug-In was built" and "In transit to port"?

IIRC, Paradox's PiP is on Pyxis Leader, which left Japan on/around 2/5-2/6, bound for New Jersey? I'd dig it up in the forum but its so slow right now.. but if your PiP was built 2/1, I'd guess its on that ship.

here's the Pyxis Leader information.. its out of range and has been for the past 8 days or so.. the ETA is 2/27..

Man, Toyota obviously has no idea who they are dealing with.

If this was a serious email, it WOULD list the ship name, along with iterinary!

Placate the insane people... we need gentle soothings and soft walls.

My order page only has partial info on it. I got the build date a week before the email, from the order page, and the shipping info by email only.

 

That's cool that Toyota tells you when your car has shipped, and presumably will keep you informed of its whereabouts. Nissan just sent emails with estimated delivery dates, which changed wildly forwards and backwards and never bore any relation to reality. They'd tell you March, then a week later they'd tell you May, then a week after that they'd tell you March again. They'd even send you a VIN and promised date, then send you a different VIN with a new date, and when that date passed they'd invent some new lie to tell you. Six months after the original promised delivery date, with bogus and constantly-changing dates still being promised, I finally gave up and cancelled my order and bought a different car instead.

 

Same here Daniel...after waiting a year and a half I found out the price went up almost $4000 more and I couldn't buy it locally. It was one big mess. Then I saw the PIP. This will be my one and only car so it’s perfect. I'll go all electric 99% of the time, I make lots of short trips, and I have the best hybrid made for the longer ones.

 

Well, I expect my PiP will be on that same ship. Bonus points if you get video capture from all the panama canal webcams!

 

Meanwhile, Toyota still doesn't even know the build month for order #612, placed at 9:10 AM the day of the pre-order. I'm happy for you, Paradox, really, but I wish Toyota could update a few more of us. As far as I know, I won't see my car until June.
