I recently noticed an issue with the Power button. I had just pulled into the garage and closed the garage door. I was talking on my phone so I didn't get out of the car immediatly. The garage door opener's light went off after a few minutes and that is when I noticed it. My headlights were on but the light that iluminates the power button at night was not on. I turned the car off and turned the lights off, but the light that normally illuminates the power button was not working.

I have to admit, this is not an issue for me. I could find the power button with my eyes closed. However, it bugs me sometimes when I notice is not working!

Sadly, I can imagine what the repair for the light would most likely be. I am in no mood to spend a couple hundred dollars getting the whole power button unit replaced for such an insignificant issue.

P.S. just in case someone is confused; I am talking about the LED that iluminates the words on the power button. Not the LED that lets you know in what mode the car is in (Off, ACC, ON, etc)

FIXED!!!!! Thanks to the city of Dallas and their massive potholes, my power button is once again illuminated at night. While driving in Dallas today, I did not see a huge pothole on my lane. I though I had left pieces of my Prius behind! LOL! However, long and behold after 6 months of it not working; the LED for the power button came back to live. I assume that the cable/connection was loose and the impact was strong enough to get the loose part back in place. My only concern is whether or not I am one pothole away from loosing the light again.

You are clearly referring to the illumination light bulb as the subject here. To prevent recurrence of the problem, consult the service manual of Gen 2 to find out what type of bulb is providing illumination light to the power switch's "POWER" display. If it is a wedge type, pull out the bulb and apply electrical contact cleaning gel or fluid to the socket, and also check to make sure the small bent leads on the bulb that make contact with the socket terminals are seated correctly. If it's a non-removable LED, you will have to trace loose solder joints and connectors leading to this LED and fix it. (Just my 2 cents.)
