I have never liked the stock hubcaps on my 2011 Prius. I took them off and added the center cap, but the 5 spoke alloys really aren't great looking wheels either. I will probably buy a set of aftermarket wheels for it the first time I need tires, but in the mean time I pop-riveted some full moon spun aluminum hubcaps to the stock hubcaps. I like the look, but to tell you the truth, most people do not. Only old-time hotrodders seem to like them.

Can't say it does much for me either... but I bet you are getting better fuel economy with them. Need to take it to the JPL to see. :)

I had some of those for awhile. I like the looks of them - sorta 'modern retro' - especially on a silver car. They are easily damaged, though, which is why I don't have four that match any more. Names are being withheld to protect the guilty. No, it wasn't me.

I was warned about the easy damage. I've never curbed a wheel, so hopefully I won't do it now. But you should see the wheels on my wife's C300, all four are damaged.

Darn, I wish I had these before my trip to San Diego last week. I'm betting they help some at the higher speeds. I averaged 43 mpg (indicated) on the entire trip. I cruised around 80 mph on the AZ freeways and 75 on the CA freeways.

Don't do anything for me either. I'd rather have good looking wheels & I won't wait until my stock tires are gone since they are only average too.

    Re: Flat Aero Hubcaps

FWIW, I recently found this pix of the flat, painted wheel covers on the
Bentley Supersports convertable ISR (Ice Speed Record).

The cover has the actual rim painted on the inside of the clear plastic
cover. The covers are secured with five threaded fasteners tapped into
    the rim.

    Interesting.

Very cool, thanks for posting. The full moons are growing on me, I may just leave them on. It makes the Prius much more interesting.

Maybe if you lowered it a little on Eibach springs it would look better. :D

Not any... they, the rims are pretty custom and covers fit just them. For example I was not able to fit the covers on my steel wheels or fit standard covers on the OEM rims.

Doesnt the disc brakes require ventilation? I know there are ventilation vents on the inside but i doubt those are enough to cool them.

Dice and a hula girl bobble doll for the dash and your good to go. I have some blue dots I bought at Moon in Norwalk but haven't had the guts to drill into any tail lights on my cars yet. You need some blue dots to finish it off.

Jim, thanks for the link to Dean Moon's bio. He was a cool guy. The next mod will be that cool SoCal paint job:

Yogi, send those blue dots and I'll install them! :D

Kanevil, that's the neat thing about the Prius, we really don't use the brakes very often. The regenerative braking does most of the deceleration. Someone did do an experiment with a 2nd gen, doing panic stops from 60 with and without the moons. Made very little difference. And the 2nd gen moons are pretty well sealed off. With the 3rd gen, you have 5 gaps around the circumference that I'm betting allows flow.

I didn't even know you could still get blue dots, probably haven't seen them on a car in 30 years.
