Nope. Base regular Prius is priced at 26.000 EUR and base PiP is priced at 39.000 EUR (= 51.000 US). Toyota is mad if they think they're gonna sell any PiP over here at this price.

I was certain on getting it (I've been driving my electric Vectrix for over 3 years now), but I guess I'll still be driving family Citroen Xsara Picasso which cost 12.300 EUR and get Renault Zoe later this year.

 

I have Prius 2012 here with both Head Units that are in PHEVs.
Anyone on MY order list who wants to drop by and play, take pics of thre screens for posting here or just want to look, call me for an appt to do this and to make sure I have the car(s) available to do this with!

 

Just talked to my dealer (Putnam Toyota), I have a production week of February 13th. He estimates that I'll get the car sometime in March.

Erica, a quick question for you.

I received my email showing a February production date but, when I logged into the website, it was still showing only the cost and dealer.

Is there a plan to provide updated information on the website or will it all be coming via email?

In Sweden will a PiP cost 357.000kr=40.100€

I think that prices will go down fast for PiP.

I saw a Citroen CX Zero (electric car) fell from
new price 369.000kr to 269.000kr used car.
It had only 2000 miles.

If a used 2000 miles PiP will cost only 269.000kr=30.200€
then I will buy it.

I remember I payed 300.000kr=33.700€ for my basic Prius back in 2005.

We pay 14,50kr=1,63€/liter for gasolin in Sweden, what do you pay?

 

Regular (87 octane) gasoline in Southern California is around $3.79 per gallon. That translates to roughly $1.00 per liter, which makes it approximately 0.76€ per liter.

If my calculations are correct, 1.63€ per liter works out to roughly $8.15 per gallon. I think at those prices there would be rioting in the streets.

 

At least it would be spread out because the rioters wouldn't be able to get together.

 

The strange thing is that Norway(oil) tourists say that its
dirt cheap in Sweden. In Norway cars are 20-40% more expensive
than in Sweden an gasoline cost 1.85€ per liter=$9.13 per gallon.

 

How much do you pay for electricity in Sweden?

 

Approx 1kr/Kwh=0.15$/Kwh

We have not so expensive electricity, thanks to lots of
hydroelectric powerplant and nuclear powerplant.

And lately lots of windpower and forrest biofuel powerplant.
Almost no coal or oil powerplant.

The problem is that I live up north, close to the
Polar circle, its cold and lots of snow.
And a Prius sux when the road has a lot of snow...

The good thing about getting a Pip is that I can charge
almost everywhere. At work(for free), home, hotel etc.

The bad is that winter and a EV is a bad thing.

Still, its just a matter of time b4 I buy a PiP,
becuse, Toyota is quality and reliably and has sold
millions of Hybrid cars.

And I think PiP is the only car in the market that has
heat storage, and thats important when you live
in a cold climate.

EDIT:
One thing that has been broken on my 2005 Prius
is a front wheel bearing, after warranty.
Toyota said, its a Prius, that should not happen,
we fix it for free.
Kudos Toyota.

The PiP really isn't for you. The engine has to run in order to heat the car, so if you live in a very cold climate you'll be running the engine most of the time. You're better off saving your money and spending it on other energy saving measures.

The same is true of the Volt and Ampera, although they would have the ability to pre-heat the car on the plug.

The PiP can't pre-heat the car on the plug. Toyota decided it wasn't worth the expense of a heat pump: the major hybrid markets (Japan and North America) use low voltage electricity supplies that would limit the heating ability from a regular socket and one of the selling points of the PiP is that you don't need to install a charger or high voltage socket.

 

What is that? I don't think the American version includes that. We sure could use it here in Minnesota!

 

From what I understand all Priuses have them.
