Would also like to see some photo's Dianne. Also, can you tell if the new electric drives seat has more leg room & better adjustment? thank you so much!
3rd gen seat is not plagued by lack of legroom, there is plenty of seat travel back. What doesn't quite follow is generous steering wheel telescope towards driver. That will limit the amount you can slide back and still be able to steer comfortably (possible issue for taller drivers). Works well enough for me, but if they can cop ergos like in a VW Jetta for example, it would be another nail in other mfrs coffin. But, average German male is 3" taller than avg. Japanese male, so that's that. Power seat gives you more control over the seat bottom to dial in leg support. How well it works depends on adjustment range. It really should be better than the mechanical. I'm also interested to see if they maybe padded the armrest, or by any chance did they switch to another steering wheel unit, but I highly doubt it.
Dianne, we would appreciate pics of 2012 Prius. I am interested in looking at the 15 inch wheels, did they change them?
Look at this thread http://priuschat.com/forums/dealers...models-coming-in-later-january-early-feb.html
Cycledrum, you mean the wheel doesn't telescope out far enough for you to steer comfortably with your arm on the driver's side door arm rest?
So from Dianne's thread: The 2012 Prius hatchback/liftback/whatever you want to call it has the two LED bars in red while the 2012 plug-in has clear LED bars as shown at 1:38 in the clip below. Is that correct? If so, I think the red LED bars look awkward and exaggerates the Alteeza style even more. They should have made them clear like the 2012 plug-in or at least red-out the whole units. Either way, I'd upgrade to the superior looking full LED Valenti lights.
Yes, the PiP has clear taillights and the Prius liftback has the two red bars with the rest clear (except for the red reflector at the bottom).
If I slide the driver's seat all way back, wheel is flat out too far away, even though I could reach pedals fairly well. Slide forward one notch, reaching wheel still little too far. I've had the seat 2 notches from fully back and haven't adjusted it since I test drove it, which is a good thing! ** Switching to thin soled shoes has helped with legroom. I can do left arm on door and reach the wheel, but a 1/2" pad would help. Right hand at 4 oclock, elbow at side works well too. ** In my 2009 Prius, I lost count of the number of times adjusting the seat and wheel, squirming, lifting self in seat, trying unsuccessfully to get comfortable, oftentimes while driving. I had no business whatsover driving that car. Craziest thing because I had owned about 12 cars (all purchased used) prior and never had seat problems. anyrate, back to topic!!
They changed to a pinwheel style plastic wheelcover, post #47, but I seriously doubt they made any change to wheel underneath. They probably contracted for millions of wheels and will keep them through the generation. Could be wrong, but doubt it.
They did change the wheels underneath to black as shown in the photo below. However, the new wheel covers are a major improvement over the 2010/2011s that nobody would want to remove them anyway.
I'm going to go out on a wild limb and say that the 2012 wheel covers will be in high demand for owners of the 2010/11. Part number? And I'm very surprised by the change to black wheels. Who'd have thunk that Toyota would go do something like that?
The black on the rims plays into the overall look of the new wheel covers though. From what I remember, up close you can see the rim behind the new wheel covers a bit but with them being black they don't show as much. Putting the new wheel covers on the old rims which were silver underneath would not look as good IMO because the silver would show making the new 'design' appear chunkier or just 'off'. Edit - I just looked closer at a pic I had taken and even the middle of the rim where the lug nuts go are now shown which is why the rims are black too. But seeing them on a 2010/11 may prove me wrong so I'd still love to see it just in case!
of note - Dark Gray interior panels have much more Black. I saw only the Silver ext with Dark Gray, and the door panels are mostly Black with some Gray around the handles. Also, the glove boxes and center console are Black. Can also reconfirm, the Two model does not have backup camera, but, it's nice to see the handfree BT buttons on steering wheel of Two! Got 7 exterior pics and 2 pics of new window stickers.
Pics above. Oh, I don't know about that .... whole lot of people will want to remove them because they are plastic wheelcovers. It might be a stink in threads to come. Personally, I don't care. It's a Prius and I like my plastic wheelcovers ..long as they don't fall off
Sorry, didn't ask them to open any up. Big change is in the Dark Gray interior where the door panels are mostly black, center and glove boxes are Black. Looks 'a little different' next to the Dark Gray seats. I think I like my Dark Gray interior better ... there's much more dark gray and little black.
