More than a few people want a power seat in their Prius. It's finally here in Four and Five. That's big for many higher end buyers. How 'but 3 door smart key? Many say they've gotta have it. It's back for $26.5k sticker.
I have proof of that! I got a fantastic deal on my Prius buying it in the middle of December. Plus, the dealer had the added spiel of telling me that they usually wouldn't give me this kind of deal, but since it is Christmas...
So I see, the Two will feature a rather large standard 6.1" display that does nothing special but display information and the Three will come standard with NAV and backup camera.
the 2012 I have 2012's here too. Right now, just a few, and have already pre-sold a few as well that I am waiting for to arrive. Cosmetic changees are apparent, slightly new front end faschia and lower grill area and fog lamp area design. The taillights are tres cool. I am going to see if I can order the 2012 taillights for my 2011. Anyway, while I was kind of dissing the softex seats initially, I like the stitching and have already been in a 2012 with power seats. I have pictures! The changes in a nutshell for the models: II has the display audio with the bluetooth and USB, steering wheel bluetooth controls. The display audio screen from the car's exterior COULD be mistaken for the NAV so these will become a little harder to tell apart in the lower end models. The one way to tell is the smart key spots not being on the other 2 places... III now has a 3-door smart entry and the Entune/NAV standard. Still had cloth seats. IV now standard with Entune/NAV and power driver's seat. The leather replaced by softex material with some fine stitching. To upgrade to the HDD Nav and the larger 7" screen, you have to get the SUNROOF (Premium) package. It looks as if there's no other way to get the high end NAV in a IV other than the sunroof bundle. It's a $3820 package and has: Deluxe Solar Roof Package: Power Tilt/Slide Moonroof with Solar Powered Ventilation System and Remote Air Conditioning System with Sliding Sunshade. Head-up Display (HUD) with Speedometer, Navigation and Hybrid System Indicator. Premium HDD Navi w/Entune & JBL- 7 Touch/Split Screen w/Backup Cam, AM/FM CD Player w/MP3/WMA Capability, 8 JBL GreenEdge Speakers, SiriusXM Satellite Radio with 90-day trial; NavTraffic, NavWeather, Fuel & Sports/Stocks w/ 3Yr Trial, HD Radio w/iTunes Tagging, Aux, USB Port, Vehicle Info, Hands-Free Phone Capability, Advanced Voice Recognition, & Music Streaming via Bluetooth. Entune with Bing, iHeartRadio, MovieTickets.com, OpenTable and Pandora. Access to Entune Services is Complimentary for Three Years. See toyota.com/entune for Details. Safety Connect - Includes Emergency Assistance, Stolen Vehicle Locator, Roadside Assistance and Automatic Collision Notification (w/One-Year Trial). The V is now standard with power seat and same softtex, etc. Same standard NAV as the IV and still has the upgrade of the LEDs and wheels etc. To get the HDD NAV and its upgrades, you have to get them bundled in the advanced tech package for $4320 window sticker and has: Advanced Technology Package: Premium HDD Navi w/Entune & JBL- 7 Touch/Split Screen w/Backup Cam, AM/FM CD Player w/MP3/WMA Capability, 8 JBL GreenEdge Speakers, SiriusXM Satellite Radio with 90-day trial; NavTraffic, NavWeather, Fuel & Sports/Stocks w/ 3Yr Trial, HD Radio w/iTunes Tagging, Aux, USB Port, Vehicle Info, Hands-Free Phone Capability, Advanced Voice Recognition, & Music Streaming via Bluetooth. Entune with Bing, iHeartRadio, MovieTickets.com, OpenTable and Pandora. Access to Entune Services is Complimentary for Three Years. See toyota.com/entune for Details. Head-up Display (HUD) with Speedometer, Navigation and Hybrid System Indicator, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC), Pre-Collision System (PCS), Lane Keep Assist (LKA), Safety Connect - Includes Emergency Assistance, Stolen Vehicle Locator, Roadside Assistance and Automatic Collision Notification (w/One-Year Trial). That's kind of the short sweet overview.
Which is interesting because the v Two gets backup camera but the liftback is not the v and not so family oriented, so... it is what it is
Re: the 2012 As I recall the basic Four will get the high end JBL GreenEdge audio system and the fancy rearview mirror, power driver's seat and Softex as you said.
Re: the 2012 I do like the new 2012 tails better, but if you're going to upgrade them, get the full LED version like Valenti. 2012 taillights are still half-LED. Oh man better be prepared for a flurry of threads by people buying from shady dealers who thought they were getting the NAV.
Re: the 2012 I think the new LED headlamp design also looks cool ! What about the dashboard interior,is it really of higher sensorial quality compared to the 2010/11 as Toyota has promised ?
Re: the 2012 NO, the audio system in the basic IV has: Display Audio w/Navi, Entune & JBL: 6.1" Touch-Screen w/Backup Cam, AM/FM/CD w/MP3/WMA, 8 JBL Spkrs, SXM Radio w/90- Day Trial, HD Radio/Aux/USB & Bluetooth it's only when you upgrade to the SUNROOF package that you get the better NAV.
Re: the 2012 I'm sorry what did I say in my post about Nav? I mentioned GreenEdge JBL in Four because Three gets no JBL anymore. Is there some basic JBL system in plain Four, but the sunroof gets GreenEdge JBL? That would go against this press release. "For 2012, the Prius Four includes that system plus eight JBL® GreenEdgeTM speakers and an eight-channel JBL amplifier. GreenEdge technology significantly reduces electric draw on the vehicle, which can help enhance fuel economy. When the Deluxe Solar Roof Package is ordered for the Prius Four, that system is further upgraded with a Head-up Display and Premium HDD Navigation System, which uses an exclusive seven-inch touch-screen with split-screen capability". http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii...2012-prius-minor-refresh-press-materials.html
So, do the 2012 power driver's seat / front seats finally get variable heat settings or still on / off? The latter would be a big boo boo IMO.
The 2012 Prius has on/off heated seats when you get Softex. The 2012 Plug-in Prius gets Hi/Lo heated front seats with both the basic (fabric) and Advacned (Softex) models.
Argh! They should have a simple thumbwheel switch and every customer wants it. Minimal cost to make people happy. Too bad.
I just picked up my 11 and the changes to the 12 were not worth not getting 2k+ off of list and the 5 years at zero. I originally wanted a four with NAV - for the back up ... but then decided that the five was a better car for us because of the upgraded headlights and the wheels. Finding a five w/o technology was the limiting factor I think if you are in the market for the three currently the changes are more relevant. Not so in the four/ five. The power seat is not all that much of an improvement and the lack of leather was an unknown. The VW leatherette (for lack of a better term) is much nicer and often a plus over the leather quality in many cars. And yes the heated seats -- why no "low" and why does Toyota package the sunroof so it is so expensive with limited solar functionality. The car is nice with a sunroof -- even a manual (crank) glass would make the car so much nicer ... 2k to get the roof is silly
How much would a 2012 with HuD cost?, I'm in the market in buying a new 2012 IV, but whats the price on a basic compared to moonroof package
See post #26. Sunroof is $3820. basic Four is $28.2 (?) w/o dest. sticker = 28.2 + 3.82 + .96 (w/mats) ~ $33k
