the price is including sales tax 19% and custioms tax 16% and still can no find any cheaper.. so i think thesee elco are great price

juts wonder if i can set my own charge current and voltage with dip switch or with the canbus interface?

and what if i buy this charger and i use 70 instead of the 72 i wanted..
then i have to buy a new charger.. or maybe not if this elco can be adjusted at home.

It took a long wait of over a month but it was worth it. The build quality looks good from the outside. I won't open it though. It is neatly sealed. It does not get too hot, easy to touch. Paul from 3prongPower who has done many PHEV conversions is in the opinion that they are good quality chargers (quote is in the Enginer forum). Mine does a CC of 6.2 amps. It never goes into CV because my miniBMS which has a HVC of 3.6v always occur. They say they program it for a charging algorithm to suit your battery pack. The website also mentions something about using can comms with BMS. Mine does not have a Can comms port so you probably have to specifically ask for one. Maybe it has one inside if I opened it. But I do not need to.

EDIT: "Can comms with BMS" - not necessarily Canbus.

You would have to direct these questions to Michael Cheung from EVAssemble. If you do let us know.

If there is indeed a canbus option for the chinese stuff, go for it in case it's not only for monitoring but also the power output settings are enbabled..

I believe it can be used with some BMS units that utilize can comms but they are not cheap. You would have to look for a BMS in mind before buying the charger. It is definitely a step up from using CellLog8S. I guess you may be able to use your PC with Canbus-USB device for monitoring and LVC if you are good at programming.

anyhow even with 19% sales tax and 16% cutsoms fees its still the cheapist option out there with 256 euros ( ex tax )
and 4 weeks for delivery from china is not that long

my A123 20ah pouches are also send so lets hope for 2 weeks just like planitaire.
    fingers crossed

they also provide anderson plugs but shipping is way to high
maybe if i get t hem with the charger it can be shippped with same shipping price

Although expensive you may want to look at getting an Orion BMS which has Canbus comms. and what ever else it has to offer.

Damn I should be getting sales commission for this......A123 cells, PFC1500 charger ......

If I did not already have a Canview I would probably get a Orion BMS.

    email responde from micheal

    This charger have two version.

First is automatic control model which will work automatically as per max setting request. This is the most convenient type for most of user.

Sencond is CAN Bus communication with BMS version which will work with BMS under the attached terms. You will need to make sure it works with your BMS. It suit for expert user who also make test.
For second model, you can set it via attached terms with BMS communcation.

You will need to make sure your BMS have the proper setting and function so that it will work.

Just choose the version which will suit for your application.

    edit

this german company also got the elco chargers so tahts closer to home also if i want to reprogram the charger

    Ladegeräte TC 1,5 - 6KW PFC

manual for the elco 1500 http://faktor.de/images/pdf//LAD/POWPFC1bis8kWSpec.pdf

    edit
added a fast drawing... if anyone sees any mistake let me now

    EDIT
also added the charge curve of the elco 1500 lifepo4do you guys think thats a good one?

    edit
    i stil have a problem when i buy a 72 cell charger at 3,6 volt per cell ( 259,2 volts ) and when i then go to a 70 cell pack its 259,2 / 70 = 3,7 volts per cell......
micheal sugest thats not a problem if the cells can handle it.
the a123 bags are 3,8 max.. so maybe its not a problem?

    edit
add the 2 pdf one with the canbus protocols

    edit
and maybe this balancer board is a option

    http://www.all-battery.com/PCBfor24CellsLiFePO4BatteryPack_30AWorking_60ACut-off-32095.aspx

    edit:
    added this link
    http://www.evlithium.com/html/PCM/118.html
its a board thats not bleeding energy buth passes energy to the next cell if cell 1 is full then cell 2 wil be given the energy etc etc

I cannot understand it. When I buy stuff on the internet from overseas I only pay for the advertised price. Nothing else is added on except a delivery price. Well, the bank charges me for a currency exchange fee but that is about it.

we got healthcare :p and what you call socialsecurty would be something like 50% of what we have over here in social security
we life in a social democracy and a healthcare system goverment not a like you have in the US. ( just my 2 cents :p )
healthcare here is like in cuba.. its good and not to expensif.

well for anything outside the EU i need to pay sales tax and in my country thats 19%
al stuff sold here got 19% except for food thats 6% i think..

    [ame]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tax_rates_around_the_world[/ame]

then the customs got a list of stuff and %
so there are things that are 0% custom tax but al will need the 19 % sales tax.
then sometimes you also get the custom admin cost but thats normally included in the cutsom tax %
i did some reading and it looks like i need to pay 7,9 % custom tax and not 16% because batterys are charged lower tax

also al the taxes are not based on the price but on the price + shipping s you pay tax over the shipping to.

yes its a tax heaven.. thats also because a lot of even american companys have a postalbox in amsterdam just for tax reasons because not only do you pay a lot but also can you get a lot of tax money back of your a company..:D... what i am not :(

but thats tha tax stuff more important what do you read in my posts... about chargers and bms's and and and ;-)
    comment on that please

    he mister plugin
how is it possible that you fit those 40ah calb cells upright and stil are below the oem batter top case side.
    the calb are
    H 185mm(7.28") W 116mm(4.57") T 46mm(1.81")
i only measure max 15cm from spare tyre to top of oem case so i can still put in the prius oem floor... are you still able to put the floor back in?

    Simply, we don't :D
It used to be as follows: expendable (aka stupid) consumer trinkets like cars, electronics and what have you are expensive, but quality schools, children daycare, hospitals, environmental protection, long summer/winter/.. holidays (paid), decent political uberclass (not robber barons) that all in exchange for some reasonable level taxation. Now, recently we adopted the anglosaxon model, but somehow we got stuck with both negatives from each system, i.e. still getting only expensive toys and increasingly shitty gov. services on top of that lol.. what a concept..

That guy is Victor Tikhonov (known old school EV converter), and he built that water cooled batt. case well before the a123 design was even made public..

The rear floor will no longer fit, I will be making a new cover for the back that the rear cargo mat will go on top of. That will be the last thing I do though, proper operation and testing is first on the list. I drove 28 miles in 3 days in all EV but then I had to go to the airport and fly out to Denver this week for work so I charged it up. It will be this weekend before I can do anything else.

I agree that is enough of taxes, That can be done elsewhere. But thanks for the info;).

I have not responded on a lot of your posts on different chargers or BMS systems, mostly because I do not have any experience with them. But IMHO. KEEP IT SIMPLE AS POSSIBLE. The charger you buy does not need to be very smart unless you have a very good balance system. My charger programmed from ELCON (512a) is set up to go into CV mode at 3.6v per cell but it will most likely never get there. My BMS shuts the charger off before this ever happens. Even though after sitting my cells are all within 15mv of each other there is always different internal resistances in all lifepo4 cells and one cell will always go high before the others in my experience. The cells get up to ~3.55v and that is all you really need. There is not that much more capacity in the cells after that. What I am trying to say is get a BMS that has high and low voltage cut offs and charger that will push enough amps to charge your pack as fast as you would like. I am no EE, just my 2.5 cents worth.

P.S. And about the cooling...My cells do not even get warm charging or discharging, But I have 40AH cells and the load on the cells is a lot lower than 20AH cells.
