Might be an issue with my screen but I'll put this out there and see if other people see the same thing. For the line across the top of the screen (for which you have 4 colours to choose from - light blue, blue, red and orange), the CD audio page is off-colour compared to all the other audio screen (AM, FM, SAT, MP3, BT, AUX). Yes it makes a difference even in CD mode between a store-bought CD (so it displays CD as the title and thus off-coloured) or an MP3 CD (thus it displays MP3 as the title and has the correct colour). Weird.
I have no obscure fact to add about the Prius but thanks to the fact that I am out sick and in bed with nothing to do, I was able to get through all 761 of these posts on my ipod. Speaking of iPod, such a shame Steve jobs passed away. I bet if Toyota asked him to do something awesome for the Prius, he would have come up with mind-blowing Fun stuff. Thanks to everyone who added something here. I will check it out as soon as I can hobble over to my car.
On the CD and USB screen, the RPT and RAND buttons have a "light" beside the button to indicate whether the function is active or not. With BT audio streaming, the RPT and RAND buttons don't and a small RPT or RAND button is displayed at the top of the screen if these functions are active.
You can leave the LED headlights on with the car off for four hours, go back out and it'll start right up like nothing happened.
Just wondering how that can be proven since there's an automatic shutoff of the headlights after a few minutes?
Just turn them off and on again with the car turned off. (Or just on if they were already off) They will stay on indefinitely...
Heard today from someone you can't roll the windows up or down if the car's in reverse...haven't tested this yet.
I don't know if it has been posted, but I have the Solar Nav.... in my 4 with the Nav being 11.1. I was very annoyed with the constant verbal instruction of the Nav with every voice prompt, so, I pressed the voice button on the steering wheel and NOW I bypass at will every prompt! Takes seconds to enter my destination, and I CAN use voice while driving. Just FYI
The rear power windows slows when the glass is almost at full close or open like the Lexus vehicles. This reduces the "thud" noise the power window makes as it hits the end of its travel. Front power windows however are regular type that will does not slow down.
The blue glowing oval Toyota logo plaque on the front hood is not completely secure. It has just a little play in it and it always bothers the crap out of me when I'm washing it. Just sorta jiggles or moves around ever so slightly but I don't want the damn thing to move at all!!!
It shouldn't wiggle. Well, I have the DRCC version so it's a painted one. Yep. You can also have it bypass it automatically in the settings. You just press the VOICE button and then wait for the beep, without the instructions.
That 4 hour headlight run time with ignition off ... is that just the LED type headlights? ... or even the higher draw regular headlight elements. Is that a new battery? ... or one that's 3 years old. I'm thinking there's a bit of variability with those issues. .
adrianblack is correct. If you mess with the headlight switch after you've shut down the car, AUTO OFF may not work.
I have a lighted front emblem, and I used black silicone glass sealer, very carefully filled in and cleaned up, and this fixed it pretty firm, and it looks better, too.
I just discovered that pressing the eco button twice will change any display setting screen back to the one showing the battery graph.
This is a silly little thing, but true ... If you flip the tail of the closed tonneau cover up, and look thru lower hatch glass, you can see what's under the cover, but if you flip the tail down, you cannot see a thing. When you push the tail down, you'll notice how it shifts and does a good job of staying down. Little detail, but well designed.
