which springs to get??

...... this is the reason. Better handling, improve looks, less wheel gap, no 4x4 look, & improved stability. Even mpg can improve if no other mods are made to heavier tires & wheels.

Oh, I'm not knocking if people want to do it. But I'd say a lot of those "improvements" are subjective. Especially "improved looks".

Excuse me, while I sit back in my lawn chair and say , In my day? If a car sat as low as some of these lowered cars? The only thing you'd think was something is terribly, terribly wrong. Improved handling? Argueably yes. But how improved is the handling if you have to eye every speed bump in the parking lot with your hands sweating? I kinda put some trust that the original designers put some thought into stance, tire size, suspension, springs and handling. If it was a LOT better to be 1/4 inch off the ground? They'ed make it that way to start. But go ahead. I concede that a lot of people seem to enjoy it. Seem to find benefit, and seem to think it visibly looks better. But a lot of it is subjective. If the trend was to raise vehicles? You'd have posts about adding height and inches...

It's just something I'm NOT into..but to each his own.

 

It is not arguable that road handling is improved. So that is not subjective. I don't fear speed bumps because the typical lowering kit doesn't lower the Prius far enough to cause one to fear such things. You act as if lowering the car puts one in a perpetual state of fear just for good looks. The car handles better, is safer and in most situations carefree.

I' m ok with you not understanding the concept of lowering a car but continually voicing your opinion on the subject just goes to show how out of touch with the automotive world you are. This is not your good old days and a lot of cars nowadays handle like garbage and look terrible with a 6" wheel well gap so lowering the car is a simple and effective way to correct both issues.

 

I concede that if someone is into lowering cars? I'm not going to convince them not to do it. I also concede that people are free to do it.

Enjoy your lowered vehicle, and fearlessly go over the speed bumps...someday I expect you will hear a gut turning scraping sound.

 

I will agree that "slamming" a car & lowering it too much is beyond me. I like the car lowered a little bit to help handling & get rid of the 4x4 look of the huge factory wheel gap. I did it with my 09 Corolla with Eibach springs & it handles 100x better & looks much better too. The Eibach drop on the Prius is only 1.1" so speed bumps will not be a worry. I just bought some springs for my 07 Corolla too.

Here is a before & after of my 09 Corolla & I'm sure you can agree that it looks much better. Here are some pictures of my silver (CSM) 09 on Eibach springs compared to a stock gray (MGM) Corolla.

I like this one the most, and I'm not talking about the vehicle. I would say she's smokin' hot.

What is your take on the ride? Do you notice any added bump steer?

Do you intend to get the car aligned.?

 

I got my Eibach springs installed today too. They are amazing. It took me about 4 hours with hand tools. The most time was spent getting the stock front springs compressed & then getting the spring compressor back off with a wrench. It's a slow process but it works. The rear springs were super easy. The front took a little bit just to get to the top of the struts.

I'll get some better ones soon. These were right after I installed them & had not driven the car yet but the car looks 100% better.

According to Tire Rack, the Eibach Pro springs lower the vehicle by 1.2" in the Front and 0.8" in the rear.

The Prius Plus springs lower the car by 1.1" in the front and 1.3" in the rear. So, I don't see how the aftermarket is an advantage in this case.

 

It depends on your point of view.

I prefer to lower the car more in the front than the rear to achieve a slightly raked look (or at least try to) instead of the level look so +1 for Eibach IMO. You also have to compare spring rates between the two. The amount of drop is not all that matters. I don't know how the two compare so I cannot comment on that.
