I have trouble with the rating G/Y assurance received at tire rack[ Who ever rated these tires is out to lunch] G/Y assurance is one fine tire. Hal
Just yesterday, I bumped into a friend who said road noise was dropped dramatically from undercoating the Prius. I hadn't thought of that as a sound-proofing layer. Anyone else try that? .
I find them to be very quiet tire. Some road surfaces cause some noise, but that will be the same for all unless you lower the pressure. Hal
Based on the Luscious Garage report, I have the best of both worlds in my factory GY Assurance tires. They are good performing tires and they won't last too long, so I will get to buy some even better tires before too long.
I had these tires on my 2006 Civic and it was getting close to the time to replace them. I had approximately 60k miles on them so they lasted long, the handling and road noise elimination were impressive, however the mpg improvement was negligible and hardly worth the extra cost. I did not go crazy with increasing the psi so maybe that is the difference. Although the Civic is clearly a different car, the dimensions and weight were similar so I would expect the same results. The verdict is out still as to whether I would buy them again now that I have a Prius. But, I thought I would add my own experience with the tires as they really should improve mpg no matter what car you drive. I just didn't see those results.
I just bought a 2015 Prius 2, that has the Goodyear Fuel Max tires, but mine max pressure 44lb, I see also on Tire rack they sell the Fuel Max tire that has the max 51 lb pressure like you have. You think the max 51lb tire gives better mpg?
