Yes, I meant if you didn't have a sign in. Is there anyway to get one now, while the pre-orders are still going on, or do you just have to wait?

 

Plug-In Prii will be available at dealers in the "green 14" states after the pre-orders are filled. That will be in the May-June or later time frame. I'm sure there will be some who have pre-ordered and changed their minds about buying. Those cars would be available earlier. So, if you didn't sign up during the Apr-Aug sign-up period, start talking to dealers who are getting the Plug-Ins and tell them you want one. Of course, the Plug-In Prius will be available at all dealers in 2013.

 

Correct. You had to put up $99 to hold a place, and you got it back whenever you cancelled your order, bought the car, or walked away from it at the dealer and let someone else buy it.

But unlike when I ordered my 2004 Prius, there was no deposit when I placed the Leaf order. I had to deposit $500 when I ordered my Prius, and that was credited against the purchase price.

Nissan made it easier to order, although in my case they never delivered a car. They did refund my $99. They did not refund the money I paid Aerovironment for the bogus "inspection" and criminally overpriced "estimate" on installation of an EVSE.

 

At this point, if you have weren't registered you won't be able to pre-order. What you need to do is to get to a dealer and get on their order list so you can get part of their first allocation. It also may be possible that there will be orphaned cars in situations such as a buyer backing out at delivery becasue they weren't offered enough for a trade in or perhaps couldn't get financing. These cars, which are already on the lot, won't be returned to toyota but instead will be delivered to someone on the dealers order list.

 

I'm not certain if this is 100% accurate at this time, but I would imagine that if a car gets dropped, Toyota will expect to be notified and they will want to re-assign the car to the next person in line, assuming the post-production options are accepted by the next buyer.

My next guess here is that they would count the dropped units against the list of cars one gets later, after the pre-orders are filled.
