Just picked up my Prius V w/Entune yesterday (traded in my 2005). Just before driving away the sales person reminded me about needing the USB cable for the iPhone. It worked - with little fuss. When I pulled up the apps this morning it asked if I wanted to update. I did and it finished in about 8 minutes. I didn't see anything new, so I started to wonder . . . yes, the iPhone can now work wirelessly with Entunes via Bluetooth! Anyone else try it with Bluetooth only?

Do you have the ATP head unit? That one does not need the USB connection like the Display Audio systems.

I just went out and tried this with my iPhone 4s. It connected (rarely does), but did not prompt for the update. BTW... I have the basic head unit. Anyone else know anything about the update?

Should only be the high end unit that updates OTA. OP - Do you have the ATP?

Please tell us which head unit you have. I have the lower end unit I'm v3. No update for me!

I've got the ATP. That was the only update I've received - waiting to see what other apps are activated.

Yeah, that system has always supported iPhone ENTUNE over Bluetooth. The dealer just made an error telling you that your particular system needed to be plugged into the USB port to work.

I have a v, five without the ATP. I was finally able to connect to the Internet using my iPhone 4S. Of course, I had to use the USB connection.

Does anyone have an idea if Toyoya is going to provide a software update to allow Internet access using the Bluetooth?

Also, does the USB port charge the iPhone? I read somewhere that the iPhone must have at least 50% charge to work with Entune. This sounds to me like the USB port does not charge the iPhone.

    Thanks
    Wallyf

Both of the new systems will charge an iPhone or iPod through USB. There is no battery % requirement to be able to run the app.

I have have found the Entune/iPhone connection process very tricky, and I have still not worked it all out. I have Prius V with ATP (picked it up 1/30/12), and iPhone 4 running current version of iOS 5. Here's what I've found so far, and I'd appreciate any insights that others can offer.

I removed the Pandora app from my iPhone, and that helped a lot. When the Pandora app was on my phone, I was not able to connect with Pandora at all via Entune, and I seemed to have a number of other connectivity problems (even with OpenTable).

Then, several times, I could get Pandora running on the Nav app screen...but no audio. I discovered that the audio system seemed to be running my iPod player (on the iPhone) in the background, without my having hit play on the iPhone player. When I went to Media on the Nav screen and paused the iPod, Pandora audio started up. So I'm trying to disable the iPod, or portable player, automatic bluetooth connection.

After many failed attempts to connect with Entune via Bluetooth, I finally was able to connect via Bluetooth (no USB cable) today and operate the Entune apps, including Pandora, via Bluetooth. The success came after I rebooted the phone and then reestablished the bluetooth connection. I had rebooted several times over the last few days, with no luck establishing Entune/bluetooth connection, but this time it worked.

It seems to me that the whole system is sensitive to the sequence in which you do things like connect and disconnect bluetooth, Entune, apps, etc. Though I have gotten everything working once, I am not at all confident that I can do it consistently without going through a NASA-type checklist.

Because I discovered Pandora, WHEN I stopped keeping music at my SDCard of dvd monitor for car- It's too small for anyone my music anyway, and I bought tired of having to transfer folders onto and from the card - Providers like Pandora give me the entire configurability I want, although I occasionally want to pay attention to an entire album, in the meantime I am content by using random play music out of Pandora.

With regards to the top item, when you plug in to the USB port odds are the iPhone switches the audio path to the connector and not BT. I've seen that quite a bit, usually if I plug it in after I've started the car. You can switch it with the old double press of the Home button. Then, restart the BT stream and it should be fine. You might have to switch off to a different source then back to BT.

For the second item, it seems like there is an issue with iOS 5. Rebooting the phone if it won't connect to Entune seems to fix it in most cases.
