Is it a crazy thing to ask a bunch of Prius owners what their ultimate garage would be? I think I have half of it right? 2011 Prius and 2006 XB, both excellent MPG. The other side,.. well not so much... What's your ultimate garage?
Cars are industrial design. At their best, they're art. Steam locomotives were incredibly inefficient and detrimental to the environment. But at their best, they were art. Early jetliners with water injection spewed billowing clouds of kerosene smoke on takeoff. But they were art. I have no problem with the celebration of industrial art, in any form. Heck, I wish I could have Jay Leno's Chrysler Turbine car. I mean, instead of shutting off the engine at idle, I'd have an engine that idles at 22,000 RPM under my (space age) hood.
Production cars: —Aston Martin DB5 —Jaguar E-Type, Series 1 convertible —Shelby 427 Cobra S/C (we're working on this one, hopefully drivable October, 2012) —'37 Cord Supercharged 812 convertible —Stanley, or Doble, Steam Car —Porsche 959 —Ferrari 250 GTO —'56 Lincoln Continental coupe —'57 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham (with the stainless steel roof and air suspension, please) —GM EV-1 —'75 Cosworth Vega —'67 427 Corvette convertible —'58 Edsel Corsair two door (in bronze with black two-tone accents) —'64 Ford Fairlane Thunderbolt lightweight, with the 427 side-oiler and competition package —1958 Mercedes 300 SL convertible in white or silver —'73 Pantera Odd stuff and one-offs: —Chrysler Turbine car —The Granatelli/STP turbine Wooshmobile that nearly won the 1967 Indy 500 —'64 Granatelli Novi-engined 4wd Ferguson System Indy car, sponsored by Studebaker —Harley Earl's 1954 Le Sabre —'66 Batmobile —Drag-u-La, from the Munsters TV show —The Little Red Wagon exhibition dragster —'56 Chrysler Norseman show car that sank with the Andrea Doria —'32 Ford rat rod powered by a 427 SOHC Ford V-8 (with the engine cover from a 1950s era outboard motor as an air scoop, and a Jack Daniels bottle as a coolant overflow tank) —Don Garlits' 1966 Roadster Dart ...I could go on and on. Oh, and three other things: —P-51D Mustang —F-86 Sabre —ELCO 80' Motor Torpedo Boat from World War Two, fully restored and powered by three Packard V12s. I'd run it up and down the San Francisco Bay, burning through 130 octane avgas like it was going out of style. Which, I suppose, it has.
As to Pinto Grr's list . . . Good Lord Woman! What you just described is a Museum not a garage! But I'd suck your oil stained toes to take a spin in that Shelby. Nothing personal mind you. BTW: I demand pics of the Shelby, it's my Constitutional right and the only decent thing to do.
Well, if the fantasies extend to steam locomotives and fighter planes...may as well add in a Galaxy-class starship. Closer to Earth...I'd like a garage big enough to build a trimaran in. When it's done, you can have the garage back. I'll be 'green', regardless.
I have to poke the engine into the laundry room but for now and until I find a new home for it this is what's in my garage. My wife calls this the "Happy Birthday and Merry Christmas forever" boat. :fish2:
I just want a Garage, and then I will worry about what to park in it. Nice boat Treb. To the OP, is the car on the left a Pontiac GTO and what model Porsche is that?
Very nice sorry to have insulted your MB. You have a nice mix in your stable German on one side Japanese on the other.
It's the Mercury ProMax racing series 225hp but a recent ECU update is supposed to have raised that to about 250hp. Personally it's to big or I should say to fast, 60mph over the water is scary. This boat will do, according to internet chatter, 75+ I'm pretty sure I'll start screaming like a little girl at 65-70. :fear: But that's what was on the boat when I got her day before yesterday. Personally the only thing it's good for is racing your buddies and beating them to the fishing hole. Now a hybrid outboard would be way past COOL! especially when you slip her into stealth mode and sneak up to a favorite fishing hole. :thumb:
All I want is: (R34 V-spec II Nur) (RS6 Avant = Lamborghini V10 + 2 Turbos) (Porsche 959) (McLaren F1)
