Interesting... I wonder if Apple pushed for this or if RCL did this on their own initiative. iPad takes to water - cruise liner passengers to be given Apple device - Yahoo! News
Just found this. Apparently Eye-Fi updated the software and iOS doesn't have to be jailbroken. On the Android news, Lenovo just announced a 5 inch tabletphone LePad S2005. Too bad the screen res is only WVGA.
According to Bloomberg today, Apple has sucked up so much of the PC market that the Manf's of RAM are struggling to stay open. The market has gone so soft that they are forced to keep producing chips to generate cash flow but in doing so they keep driving prices down with no relief in sight. Guess the consumer has spoken
I believe you may be right. I have an iPhone 4 and an iPad 64 GB + 3G (1st Generation). My nine-year-old has a 3GS but hers isn't Jailbroken.
Cisco Cius? I'd heard of this goofy Cisco Cius - Products & Services - Cisco Systems Android tablet long ago but never heard anyone talk about it. Anyone actually seen these at their work? Are they widely used there? Analysis: Cisco set on proving it can succeed in tablet market Is this article just a bunch of BS, esp. given the quote below? If they're succeeding, perhaps Cisco has succeeded at getting into a space that RIM was trying to w/the Playbook?
Re: Cisco Cius? They are "succeeding" about as much as anyone else - in other words, not very much. Market Research | Consumer Market Research - NPD - U.S. Tablet Sales (excluding Apple) Exceed 1.2 Million Units in First 10 Months of 2011 Based on the data there, the best Cisco can hope for is 6th place with less than 100,000 tablets sold. It couldn't surprise me if those "thousand company customers" all got the tablet as a combo deal with other equipment - a sort of "buy all this stuff, and we'll throw in a tablet to help you manage it".
Kindle Fire Will Crush Other Android Tablets, May Increase iPad Sales Say Analysts - Mac Rumors Found this pretty funny... they're projecting Amazon will destroy the rest of the Android tablet market, while simultaneously boosting iPad sales in the long run.
My wife, who is a gadget freak and has tested or used many tablets (she currently owns an iPad 2) is positively underwhelmed by the Fire. After trying one out, she bought instead a new Nook as Christmas present for our six-year old. She says the Nook has a much smoother interface and is a better tool for reading. Barnes & Noble also provides a lot of free reading material (for children or otherwise) when you take your Nook into the store. And she is an Amazon Prime member, no less!
Psst, you can also "check out" books from many libraries with your Nook. My nine-year-old loves her Nook Color (which I have set to boot Android from an SD card or boot normally by removing it). My local library doesn't support this but Gwinnett Country, our neighboring county does and only charges $20 for an out of county card.
AppleInsider | Parents complain Amazon's Kindle Fire gives kids access to porn, accounts I don't have a Fire but this is a total non-issue for me since I have no kids. I can definitely see how this could be an issue for those w/kids though...
We're talking about young children, possibly preschoolers, inadvertently accessing and/or downloading inappropriate material. What's scary is that Amazon does not admit that it made a huge design blunder. Kinda reminds me of Jason Garrett of the Dallas Cowboys.
