The small size of the previous Prius models always removed it from consideration before. I have a family and photo gear to lug about. I bet that with the rising gas prices, the safety of the car, and the space you will see a lot more people like me who have been waiting.
replaced my wife's leaky (under the hood) '98 Camry XLE. nearly twice the gas mileage, more room for dogs and stuff in the back, more lively color (blue is gorgeous).
It's replacing our Jeep Grand Cherokee. We'll still keep the Jeep for trips to Tahoe, but the money we are going to save otherwise is going to be incredible.
I'm picking up my new Prius v on Wednesday. It will be replacing a 2000 Honda civic sedan. I'm going from a fairly basic car (no power windows, cruise control or ABS) to a fully loaded Prius v. I am so excited!
Someone at Toyota does not understand Google. In a fit of marketing suicide, Toyota named the car almost identically to a trim pakage on previous Prius. Prius v vs Prius V. Since that just may be confusing, we grasp at any straw that can help reduce confusion: Prius vee, Prius wagon, Prius Alpha, (name in Japan) Prius+, (name in much of Europe) etc.
Replaced a GMC Acadia. Getting concerned about the Acadia gas consumption and general all around footprint such as tires ( 1200.00 dollars a pop in Canada ) and user issues with leaky sunroof, timing chain stretching, transmission problems,3 stabilizer bars in my case ).
We replaced a 2007 CLK350 Convertible for the Prius V since we are expecting a 2nd child. My wife was happy with the roomy interior and the 40+ MPG. We (esp. my daughter) also liked the reclining rear seats that can slide back for more space. Very happy with our purchase!
We got rid of a 2007 FJ Cruiser. Very happy about it. I was strongly considering the ct200h but when it got down to making a discussion I couldn't justify a car that I didn't fit in (6"5 and my height is between my hips and shoulders). Loved the look of the ct especially the F sport I was looking at but with 2 dogs to consider moving arount it just made more sense for the v. Bought the Touring and Tech package in Blizzard White (Canadian). Very interested to see if when they release Entune in Canada if there is going to be an update for the vehicles such as mine that have the proper head unit.
Indeed! There are many SUVs that are very big on the outside but pretty cramped on the inside. I recently went for a short ride in a friend's Chevy Trailblazer and found the same thing: the Prius v actually had better passenger head room.
Replacing a 2005 MDX. Will miss some of the cool features, but the Prius V does some cool stuff too! We got the V III, but added leather seats.
My Prius V is replacing my 2010 Subaru Forester. I absolutely loved my Subaru and never had a problem with it during the 2.5 years and 45,000 miles I owned it but change cars every 2 years normally. The Forester actually lasted 6 months more than usual. I love my Prius V but have only had it 3 weeks. It is getting phenominal gas mileage (47 mpg's) and it very comfortable and easy handling. Hopefully I will keep the Prius 3 years!
2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX MR. After having the baby it made a ton of sense to replace it with the Prius V. I definitely miss the horsepower but i get three times the efficiency with the Prius.
I replaced my Chrysler Town and Country. I haven't missed all that space yet, especially in light of the gas mileage I'm getting!
Replaced a 2006 Prius with 125,000 miles, which I loved. I was willing to sacrifice SOME gas mileage for more space. I do a lot of travel with show dogs and couldn't crate them in the smaller Prius, but loved that mileage. A 35-3/4 x 24 x 27-1/4" wire crate fits perfectly in the back cargo area (with the rear seat up even!), door opens on the long side to the rear, and my lab loves it. Haven't yet figured out all the capabilities of loading it with the rear seat folded down, but it feels huge and spacious compared to the smaller Prius.
04 Honda Element with 150k miles. Always liked the fuel efficiency of the Prius but loved my cargo space more. When I realized the other day that the Prius v existed I found the right car to replace it. Bought a v three and I've put my first 250 miles on it. A fun drive with Bluetooth and nav. Very happy
