On my Gen II they clearly help keep spray off the area immediately behind the wheels, particularly the front driver and passenger windows!

Got mine from prius chat accessories shop . Got the smaller ones and like them a lot. Heard the larger ones can effect mileage and did not like that possibility. Easy to install.

I have the larger ones, and if there is any effect on MPG it's miniscule as I couldn't measure it.

Overall, I think they do a good job at keeping some spray off the car. However, with all the rest of the road spray from other cars, I don't know how much difference it really makes.

This is the first car we've had in over 30 years that didn't have stock or readily available mud flaps, and...: don't really miss them. Nice clean look.

FWIW, the flapless wheel is almost a mudflap anyway, goes down quite far at the back.

One of them requires drilling (I can't remember if it's the front or the back set). Super easy to install. You just need a power tool.

I managed to install on mine without drilling. I used a little pressure on the screw driver and they went right on. IIRC, I did remove the tires for the rear ones to allow for easier access.

Where I live snows. How does the mud guards hold up with a lot of snow jammed in the wheel well ?

I guess drilling is the wrong word but yes that's what I did too. I just put the screw on the power tool and installed the mudguard.

It holds up fine but you'd be wise to knock the snow out (no point carrying all that extra weight)

Loose rocks on the roads I drive have ripped the little oem deflectors off. I don't think it's worth the effort or money to put mudguards on. :(

Gotcha. I know the instructions said to drill a small hole, but it's not really necessary as we know. I didn't even use a power tool (unusual for me) just a little continual pressure and it worked. And I'm not HULK, either.

Agreed. I tend to kick out any accumulated snow when I get to my destination. I'm not sure it really makes any difference, but gives back full clearance for moving the tire for the first minute or so of the ride lol.

I read somewhere that spraying the non-stick cooking spray on the mudguards will help keep the spray/snow from accumulating as badly. I haven't tried that yet, though.

I added the smaller US version from Prius Chat Shop on mine. It definitely keeps the road spray off of the car downstream from the rear of the tires. Like others, this is the first car that I have owned that did not already have these as standard.

Of course it cannot help the spray from vehicles around you

I may have to give those a shot. I'm not too worry about the spray but rather stones that the tires may throw down the side of the car.

    Question.
Do the mudguards screw into something metal or just into plastic ? On the Vue that I have, they give you metal clips that you slip on the fender liner to give the guards something to hold on to. I wonder if putting the euro mudguards on screwed into plastic would rip out after a few snowy trips. Thanks for the info
