Darn...I meant msrp not invoice...can't seem to edit the post title.... I bought a Prius V3 yesterday! I refused all extraneous items such as etching, paint protectant, fabric protector, pin stripes etc and port installed items like the bumper applique. I got mine with all weather mats in lieu of carpeted mats. No weird hidden fees-no catches. I had been negotiating with the dealership for weeks. Surprised they bit on my final offer. My hunch is they were sick of dealing with me and my ammo when negotiating with them. Plus, they traded the car with another dealer before it hit port to get me the color combo (Clr sky metallic/bisque) I wanted. Out the door including tax, tag and title for a little under $30,000.00. It pays to research and to be patient!! Of course the dealer still made money on the deal but most dealers around here are not budging on the msrp at the moment.
Verrry cool that you could get the exact one you wnated. Did you get it from an AZ dealer? How many miles were on it (mine had 1 mile on it but that was in Carson CA). I'm over 400 miles now.
Buying a new car under msrp is not such a big deal. If you want a great price, you usually have to go below factory invoice.
Yep-I actually paid invoice which is pretty good consdering this car is brand new. Lots of dealers around the U.S. are not budging on msrp since the car has only been in this country a month.
My car had 4 mile on it. I was able to buy it from an AZ dealer. It is actually still there since I did not want to drive it home during the haboob!!! You drove home from Ca already?
Yep, we're baaack! We picked it up Wednesday, ran around LA for the next 24 hours or so, and then headed back to AZ. We now have 477 miles (and 3 coats of wax) on it.
Nothing but hand wash and wax* for our babies. I use 3M Performance Finish (cheapest if you get it directly from 3M). It is great stuff, easy as pie to "wax on/wax off," super shiney, durable and long lasting. It has no cleaning compound/grit in it. I spent time today waxing all the hidden painted surfaces like the door jambs, painted edges of wheel wells and painted areas under the hood. With a good coat of wax, you can just wipe those areas when you're done washing the car and they come perfectly clean. *There's no actual "wax" in 3M Performance Finish. It is silicone based. To give you an idea how good it is, I once sold a car to a friend of mine. The next day, his brother called me to complain about his brother "going out and buying a brand-new BMW." He was shocked to learn it was 6 years old and had 93,000 miles on it.
Considering it's a new model and the demand seems high - You Got a Great Deal. Welcome to PC and Best of Luck With Your New Ride!
A bit OT, but there are camps that suggest NOT waxing the paint for a short period of time while paint cures, etc. Congrats on the new car! I'd be curious to know the dealer that went so low!
Got mine 28,500 out the door! Black 2011 III with tint, rear bumper protector, all the mouldings, NAV and premium mats. Not a bad deal!
I got my 2012 Prius v5 with advanced tech for $1700 below invoice in my home state of Oregon. 4 miles on it.
Great job, kiddo! You are hired to be my official new car negotiator. I've never gotten a deal as good as yours.
For those of us that are considering just such a configured v5 and don't know what invoice is, would you mind sharing the invoice price? Thanks! --Russ
The invoice price on a V5 with the AT is $33,666.00 The invoice on a V5 is $29,352.00 I would be very shocked if someone paid $31900.00 for V5 with AT.
Jeez. I am sooooo sorry. I fudge "invoice" and MSRP and sorry to muddy the waters. The MSRP on the v5 WITH the adv tech package, carpets and dealer handling was $36624. I paid $34900. License, registration and dealer fee was $347 on top of that. I got this deal 10/31 and no other dealer would come close to it. Think I did OK. No matter, I love the car! (incidentally "invoice" was $29.9K WITHOUT tech pkg, carpets, decal on bumper, "delivery processing")
M8s. I'm a little old lady but love cars and love the negotiation process especially over the internet. This was so easy. Nice people to do business with too.
