Congratulations! A lighter color like Silver is more conducive to hot areas like Louisiana anyway! Enjoy!!:cheer2:
Thanks for the welcome. I agree with you I dont know why more employee's dont visit forums more often. Forms and google can be great tools on my side of the dealership.
Congratulations I like the silver. When my dealer was searching for one for me I would have bought either white or silver. They found the white first.
Of course it's gonna depend on the dealer, but there are deals to be had. I managed to split the difference between MSRP and Invoice (yeah, I know invoice isn't really "cost") without much trouble. It helps to have a competing offer. I walked in with an offer from another dealer, exagerrated it a bit, and said "can you beat that, yes or no?" I was absolutely willing to go back to the original dealer, and I guess they believed me.They beat the price, they got the sale. Oh, BTW, I learned *shocking* news from the salesman. I've been told by every salesman ever that the car I want has little profit. According to the gentleman today, Toyota "didn't make the Prius to make a profit, they made it to [comply with US law]". I found this to be highly amusing.
Ha, that seem like a normal saying by almost every sales just to make you feel like you got a great deal.
So ToyoFixer, have you turned off your back-up beeper? Is that something any owner can do (like in the Gen 2 Prius) or do you need special tools and/or skills? BTW, I got a Prius v5 (non-AT) the other day and couldn't be happier. I haven't begun to set up all the features but will begin working on that project today. Any help, advice, shortcuts or observations you can offer I'm sure will be appreciated by all of the other Prius v owners.
Hi M8s! Congrats on your car! I bought one yesterday as well! There is a Beeper thread posted that suggests that the dealer has to take off the beeper noise.
I havent turned off the beeper yet. But I need to my wife loves her car and I know she dosent want me to take it to work for a day yet. I will be doing it soon hopefully next week. I orderd Headrest DVD monitors for it and they should be here tuesday so I will have it at work then. I will make a list of what can be changed at the dealer when I do it. I agree it has to go.
Sounds good. It'll be interesting to see how involved the procedure is. While you're at it, is there a way to have the driver's door touch opener unlock all the doors (without using the key, that is)? I know it only unlocks the driver's door to prevent carjackings but we're willing to take our chances.
I believe there is, and you can do it yourself. In the owner's manual, there is a table of customizations, with indications on whether a feature is unchangeable, changeable only by a dealer, or changeable by the customer. I believe I've seen the setting for 'unlock all doors' on my car's Setup screens. I don't know whether this applies to all levels / media systems.
Most of the major dealers in Southern Calif will sell any v for $500 over invoice. Lots of them everywhere. Might pay for your trip to CA and then drive home. Might as well have a vaca VS giving it all up to the dealer for nothing.
Yes there is sit in the car all doors closed and locked ignition off. Press and hold both the lock and unlock buttons on the remote. After 10 to 20 seconds you will here 4 beeps then release the buttons. Now all of the doors should unlock with the smart sensor. The setting you can change on the radio only makes the remote unlock all of the doors with one touch.
Thanks a ton. It took me three attempts to get it to work but now I'm all set in the door unlock department. This advice should be stickied. I'm sure lots of other owners will want to do it too.
Got the DVD players in and it stopped raining long enough to get it cleaned up and take some pics. I put them in the picture thread. Here http://priuschat.com/forums/prius-owner-photos/100037-2012-prius-v-headrest-dvd.html#post1417374
