Today my fiancé tinted my tail lights using VHT nite shade and VHT quick clear. I taped off the turn signal area for the first two coats, then removed and did third coat. I did three coats to clear and allowed 10 mins in between each coat. Here is the before and after.
So far, so good. I'm sure that I'm not the only one who would like to see more. Can you post some pix of how the various lights look in the dark; brakes, running lights, turn signals, and reverse?
We are waiting for the sun to do down completely before those photos but i will add them asap. thanks for the comments!!
pjo has an 08' so I'm thinking he means how the short rear window in the trunk doesn't blend since on the 08' (well, 06-09) the taillights were all clear from top to bottem and the lower rear window is almost black. on the 04-05 they made the top part of the tail light smoked so the rear window flowed more across the car from far left to far right. The OPs was like this even before the taillight tinting because it's an 05'.
me personally, not feeling it....the clear tails work BEST on light colored priuses and your silver blended the stock clears perfectly.... but if you like it, then that's all that matters
and the back to side view, since i had an empty space beside me. i think it looks good with the dark tint, black rims, and my lower lip & wiper area that i put Forever Black on.
Looks good. I just did 5% tint all the way around, except windshield. Looks really good on the Silver.
thanks for all the comments, i couldn't live without tint. i went my first summer with it and i was tired of ROASTING every time i got in. NC summer sun/humidity is rough. and no I'm not a raiders fan, i would have loved an all black prius but i only found a silver in my price range at the time. so I'm making the best of it.
umm, my tint is too dark for NC, but my Prius is still registered for my parents house in SC. so a shade lighter than 18%. but there are tons of cars with darker tint in NC. I'm not sure how they pass the yearly inspection...
