Yes, it will display the upcoming turn only (because it temporarily replaces the speedo until you finish the turn)

Incorrect. They will come with nav, yes but only those with the Premium HDD navigation system will have the HUD (i.e. Four w/ Deluxe SR package and Five w/ AT package)

Ohh, you were looking at the Four? I thought you were looking at the Three. Yes the Four's Deluxe SR package will be pricey because of the HDD navigation system, HUD and Safety Connect additions

I was looking at the Three, but now I'm opting for either the Four w/ Solar or the Five w/ ATP

I like the new tail lights but am not a huge fan of the lower grille opening. Especially since some areas of it are simulated; painted black but without vent openings.

Has there been any improvement to the interior quality of the 2012 Prius? I am having service done on my 2005 Prius and they have a couple of LARGE Prius V-v's here and the interior is very nice including padded dash. I am hoping they have made these improvement on the standard 2012 Prius.

No. Just minor colour changes (dark grey is now almost black with medium grey two-tone for example)

Would we assume that the upgrades to the standard equipment come with raises in the lower trim price levels? If so, do we have any idea what those are? I ask out of curiosity, since my Civic Hybrid was just totaled so I'm needing to buy a new car and am strongly leaning toward a Prius (change of pace and my general agreement with how IMA tends to "degrade"). I can probably borrow a car from family long enough to hold out for these refreshes, but just wondering what new prices we could be looking at.

The 2012 Prius should arrive in Dec so we'll know the prices soon (hopefully some time early next month).

Ah, ok. Still, the only real appealing thing after reading the PR is the new standard equipment back-up camera on the Prius 3. In-car navigation is woefully inadequate compared to using Google Maps Navigation on my Android phone when its properly mounted to the dash.

Then to top it off the 3 is losing the upgraded 8 JBL speakers and making you have to go to the 4 to get that. It's a real dilemma of whether to wait or go ahead with a 2011 Prius 3 as soon as I can find one not overburdened with added options.

Backup camera is standard on the 3 because navigation is standard on the 3. Now the navigation is no longer bundled with the upgraded JBL audio, so you get navigation/backup camera with a more basic quality radio and speakers than a 2010-2011 as part of standard equipment 2012 Prius 3.

I know that. I'm just saying that, for me personally, I think I'd rather have the upgraded sound in the three since the nav is pretty much worthless to me.

Since you wanted the backup camera and they aren't making backup cameras available without nav for 2012, you need nav regardless of not liking the way it works.
Since it doesn't have the JBL proprietary amps, it should not be that hard to upgrade the new stereo with aftermarket speakers and amp that sounds at least as good as the Prius OEM JBL system would have sounded.
By 2014, backup cameras will likely be standard because they will be federally mandated on many vehicles.

Ok, this Prius 4 description makes sense. 4 gets the HDD and JBL, and the sunroof is a seperate option as is ATP.

The other thread says 2 gets the backup camera as well. We'll have to wait and see.
