So. I went to my dealer tonight and had a sit down with the fleet sales manager who'll be taking care of my PHV order. We went over the process, and I negotiated a price below MSRP :)

She had paperwork indicating that the ordering would indeed start on the 19th, so here's hoping!

It might not be an add-on, but it IS included on the Advanced version.

In that brochure, the two interior color trims, damned if I can tell a diff in either one.

I like how this car is totally feasible to use without upgrading a garage's charging station (due obviously to lack of battery capacity). 3 hours to full charge on 120V is really nice.

If you don't mind, what price did you agree on?

Homelink is the one thing I am going to miss from my 2005 but it's not worth the extra $8K to get it. I will just have to fish out the old remote and hope it works.

I don't like the available colors either.

$500 off whatever I order. Not an insane amount, but I am just happy not to be paying MSRP. The top level guy wouldn't go any lower because he said they were only getting 6 (non-ordered) cars for the year.

Got an email today from a local dealership in WA, they also confirmed October 19th being the day for taking orders.

Yes, but I do not want to pay $7,000 for a homelink mirror... grin.

I had the HomeLink mirror installed by the dealer on my '03. I saw recently that it was a port-installed option for a 2011 Prius. So it can be done, and apparently fairly easily, with the basic wiring already in place.

    Good for you!
I wonder how the dealer could agree on a price at this point. All the dealers I have contacted told me that since they have not received pricing and costs from Toyota, they are unable to sit down and agree on a price. They claim that this info will only be given to them when I configure my PIP online and send the config to them through Toyota. True?

They should have the info as far as I am aware concerning their invoice pricing. Now if the info was not provided to them from their region they wouldn't have it but that shouldn't be...

I am 99.9% certain that the order window won't open October 19th. It will be pretty soon, but not THAT soon.

    That's a relief!

(My daughter has surgery on the 19th. I'm not sure how I'd manage to order my PHEV that day...but I'd find a way!). :)

So I guess my asking again is a mute question! I'm still trying to find out when I'll be able to "pre-order" the 2012 Plug-in. The online site doesn't respond, and no one seems to know.

Guess I'll just keep bugging my dealership until I get results.

I want to be the first in my city to own one. (And yes that's possible because my city's population is only 7,157) give or take a couple. <grin>

not sure what you mean by this. are you on the priority registration list, or not? if not, you'll probably have to wait until dealers themselves can order the car. if so, you should have already received an email with a pointer to a website which describes what the order process is.

Bugging your dealership isn't going to make it happen any faster. As long as you pre registered on the ordering site, you'll get a notification before it goes live to order. If you did not pre register on the website then you cannot pre order on the site and you will have to bug your dealer to try and purchase one of the vehicles they will eventually receive that goes into their inventory for them to sell, but I expect those to sell for more than the ones people pre order from the site.

Question is, did you pre register on the site?
