Anyone know if there will be some way for someone in southern California to actually see what the blue and green plug in colors look like in the flesh (so to speak) before the ordering period? I can't trust my computer monitor to accurately to reproduce the colors. I didn't like the light blue color of the Gen II prius. Is the blue color for the plug-in the same or close? Any other toyota models with the same (or very close to the same) colors of the plug in (specifically the green or blue)?
I'm hoping this but I can't say for sure... http://priuschat.com/forums/prius-h...in-santa-monica-next-weekend-sept30-oct1.html
I think the first place they were going to show the REAL production car was the LA Auto show in Nov - according to the Toytota guys at South Coast Mall Drive event in Sept.- now that may change....they were trying to get it for the Alt Car expo but there are not that many around...last I heard.. The 2012 Camry is available in Clearwater Blue Metallic, and is starting to show up on dealer's lots in California.
to answer specifically about blue: no, it's a different color. i would recommend going into the Bay Area test-drive threads and looking at people's photos there. i feel like that should give you a better idea than the renderings that toyota puts on the site.
Seaglass Metallic is Aqua Blue Metallic in Japan. It's similar to Silver Pine Mica for 2006-2009 but slightly darker and slightly bolder (i.e. less washed out/more solid in colour). Clearwater Metallic is lighter than Seaside Pearl that you're thinking. The 2012 Camry has the colour available so you might be able to see it at the dealer if they have any.
I just received my first Clearwater blue 2012 Camry. If anyone wants a picture of the blue I have a full body side shot and can email it. Just send mail to diannewhitmire@Mac dot com (heh stop spammers) and I'll send you the pics. Dianne
It's similar Catalina Blue on the Gen 5 Camry but a bit lighter (Catalina if I recall was a bit more solid in blue but still a light blue hue like Clearwater)
I told Dianne I like it better on the Prius. The sportier, hatchback design lends itself to bolder colors, IMHO. Looks slightly odd to my eye on the very conservative camry. My wife likes it on the camry though. Could wind up with 2 blue cars in the garage if I'm not careful!
I was at a Fleet Conference in Grapevine,TX on Monday and Tuesday and got to drive the new 2012 Prius PHV, i believe the color was Clearwater Metallic, it was a silvery-blue. I would say its a nice color for the Sunny/HOT parts of the country. The was a bit more room in it compared to my '06.
blue is my favorite color but the sea glass pearl color is incredible. saw it in person at the green car expo. of course the blue is really nice as well.
DFid you get some good pics of that green? I have seen it in Evan's pics but it looks so radically different in certain instances that I wish I could see better photos!
you know, i didn't get proper pictures of it. none of the display cars were green. i think i drove a green car. i had a video camera going as i approached the car but the color fidelity of the video camera is pretty bad. that was dumb, i should have tried to get some pictures of it while other people were driving.
I was wondering about the colors too. Blue looks nice but I already have a Leaf which is blue, so I think I will skip blue. Not so sure about the green until I can see it in person. Think I will be choosing between the white or silver. The white probably will cost a bit more though.
one of my priuses (2007) is the 'regular' green color. can't remember toyota's name for it. at any rate, to me it's just an okay color. but the sea glass pearl really looks like that blue-green sea glass you find on the beach. to my eye it was something special. hopefully there will be some chance for more people to see that color in person.
We can see the Blue on the new Camry, but the Sea Glass is not on any current Toyota to my knowledge, so no chance before ordering the PIP.
