That'd easy, the plural of "Prius" is, "Priu" :)

Usage: "take a look at all those Priu at the Green Car Expo"

Why not? I think it'll get publicity and increase awareness that the current Prius doesn't need to be plugged in. At the same time, it makes a statement that plugin Prius will be here.

Other plugins (Leaf and Volt) don't have the cordless equivalent so this is an unique opportunity.

If a new term must be used, I suggest plugless until Toyota comes out with an official term. It is nicely symmetric with official Plug-in name. Plug-in also has connotations of an additional feature, so plugless naturally connotes the lack of such a feature.

Cordless is not symmetric and even worse, a misnomer. Since cordless is typically an additional feature, cordless/corded has the connotation backwards.

It doesn't solve the more general problem of denoting a Prius vs. a Prius c/v. I wonder if Toyota will give the original Prius a suffix at some point.

Oh, I have a great idea on a suffix :p

    How about Prius WL ?
That stands for Prius WireLess :usa2:
So now we have to get some very high quality decals made up for existing Prii WL's so the general public can discipher which is which

One is the BL, ballless, the other is WL. It does make more sense than cordless, but ....

THere is the plug-in, and the WL prius. OK both get cellular networking and wifi through my phone:D

Btw, the gen II is the BL just for usb:eek:

We'll only get the same layout as the current Prius - EV, ECO and PWR. EV is the EV<->HV button.

Same interior as the regular Prius. No soft touch plastics that I saw or felt.

There isn't a power increase AFAIK. The charge port was moved to save weight (no need to wire stuff from the front of the car to the battery at the back). It also moved the DC/DC converter away from the cabin. (Experiences showed that it was a rather hot unit, heating the cabin while the demo PHV was charging)

I say we just say "Prius" and "Plug-in Prius" or PiP for short.

Can you imagine the problems we'll have in a few years when we have wireless charging of the Plug-in Prius? :p

Do you guys have any official info about the power output of the new lithium based battery pack? Unfortunately Toyota's site says nothing about that:

2012 Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid Performance and Specs

We all know that the old Nimh battery pack develops 27 kW at most. The new lithium battery pack obviously has a higher power output figure but there is no sign of that the PHV's hybrid system net power would have increased. Any explanation about that?

There is the prius, prius phv, prius c, prius v. I guess some really want to force a silly name on the gen III prius of cordless which makes no sense to me, and would confuse prius c with prius cordless. And isn't the prius C also the prius cordless?:D
So following the pretend features I do like prius wl bettter for the gen III. But how about all the confusion between gen III and gen II. As steven colbert would say the gen II has no balls, so its the ball less. or the prius bl. Look at what happened to this poor old woman who tried to add balls to her truck.

It also would imply that toyota marketing just doesn't get PHEV and BEV car buyers. I don't think they want to put out that message, but we will let the prius team weigh in again if the cordless name keeps getting pressed.

Toyota has already officially weighed in by giving an official name for the old prius.

There are some Anti-EV people here who want to just confuse the issue - by perpetuating this cordless scam.

No, as in the PHV is called the Plug In Prius and the regular is called the Prius liftback. To each his/her own...

    Is this a controversial issue?

    Let's see the options!
WE0H invented "Uncorded" just for those who do not like the word; Cordless. Another PC member came up with Plugless!:D, Nice!

    Cordless(Uncorded) & Corded Prius,

    Plug-in & Non Plug-in Prius

    Plug-in & Plugless Prius!
