I have a 2002 prius that threw a spark plug and loosened the coil pack. The mechanic just reinstalled the plug and tightened the coil pack and said it was fine. Does anyone know why it would throw a spark plug?? It was running fine, no warning lights, i just heard an unusual slight noise and opened the hood to check it out, and notice the loose coil pack over the first spark plug
This is the first time that I have seen a complaint about this problem. If the spark plug threads did not show obvious damage then that plug probably was not properly torqued. Odometer reading? When were the iridium spark plugs last replaced? If this happens again then it is likely that the spark plug hole threads in the cylinder head were damaged.
The Odometer reading is 234,000 and running strong. Maintenance done every 5k by dealer. I am not positive that they are iridium spark plugs. I will check my maintenance records for last replaced. He said it looked fine?? "cylinder head damage" does not sound good??
