Good point. I'd probably also need to buy the Toyota rear camera wiring harness in order to hookup the OEM camera. The plug on the camera is probably some odd-ball shape.

I ordered a CCD camera for a Camry. The CCD is supposed to have a better picture than the cmos.

Also, I bought the Rosen connector for the camera. It goes into the six pin plug on the Rosen back and looking at the rear of the Rosen unit, the pins look like this:

[123]_ (Notice the slot on the right side of the "socket")
    [456]

Anyways, video hot (center) goes in pin 5 and camera shield (ground) goes in on pin 3 of this connector. So you don't need to buy the connector if you have computer parts lying around. You can just make one from two audio connectors for DVD drives. (I think).

I wanted to get this out there since I couldn't fine it.

Looking at putting a backup camera into my T3 now I have got a HU with reverse camera functionality. I am not too keen to dismantle a lot of the trim so and have found a wireless camera on ebay (for camry 09)
WIRELESS Reverse Rear View Camera for Toyota Camry 09 | eBay

Has anyone any experience of using a wireless installation?

I also found this one which is for all toyota?

WIRELESS Reverse Rear View Camera for Toyota ALL TYPE - eBay (item 320563746308 end time Sep-12-11 01:51:07 PDT)

Or there is the camry 08 one.

Which one would be the best fit?

I didn't notice anyone who deployed the wireless camera on Prius 2010. Based on pictures, provided by FactoryKiss the Camry 09 would be better. BTW, there is no info about frequency used for transmission. It looks that the camera is a standard one used by many of us, just the video wire is replaced with WL transmiter/receiver combo.
If WL is not working reliably, you have an option to go via wired setup anyway.

if Im right, there is light (sky) blue wire in 5pin conenctor for the rear wiper assembly, pin No. 4 (or violet one for the rear washer conencted directly to pump). both are connected to the RR VIP 20A fuse. There is +12V available when IGN on (Ready mode).

You are correct - Radio Shack sells T-taps - which makes it easy to get at...

On a side note - there were (in the early days of aftermarket installs here on PC) several people who went wireless - and from memory - several problems that followed. I'd just do some searches before running out and getting one of those wireless things...

And as mentioned - the Camry cam fits perfectly. Alternatively, you could use the factory like Camry cam - and buy a wireless video repeater - install that in the back (you'll get better reception - and it'll look more stock)... They seem to be good cams (I've had two in different cars)...

Have put in order for the wireless camry 09 camera and will see how it goes. At least they supply some leads if the wireless is not good enough.

There's a spot for it up front - but the instructions weren't clear *and* since I was already running video from the rear, I just T-tapped the actual reverse light wire (drivers side reverse light - easy to get at) - and ran it up front along with the video...

Again, I'd recommend against going wireless if possible... The only issue with wired is getting the yellow RCA through the boot (which is a hassle)...

This seems to be a common issue. Any reason for not just running a wire (coax) and then attaching a connector. You can buy crimp on RCA plugs for coax? Solder a connector?

The factory made RCA cables are more waterproof (they are usualy hotsealed) then DIY soldered ones. Going through the boot is not so bad with the lubricant helper.

My first 2010 - I cut off the RCA, and re-soldered another - it's still not easy fishing the wire (but yes much easier than RCA) - but soldering to that fine cable is also a hassle.

Bottom line, if you grind most of the RCA plastic off, it gets easier...

Maybe going through the boot isn't as hard as it sounds from the posts. You could cut one connector off, run the wire from the trunk and solder a jack to the end goes to your HU. You have other "issues" if the connector which attaches to your HU needs to be waterproof. ;)

My camera stopped working two days ago.

I had wrapped it with plastic film to keep it dry.

Poor quality, i guess. Cheap, but junk.

Well the wireless camera unit arrived. The wireless unit operates on 2.4GHz. Have started to fit the camera and have removed the rear door trim and the plastic panel on the outside rear trim to reveal the camera mounting hole. I now have a problem. There is metal between the mounting hole and the inside of the car. How do I run the camera cables? Looking at these toyota instructions http://priuschat.com/forums/attachm..._view_camera_pz473_g0140_00_aim_001_911_0.pdf , it looks like I have to drill a hole or two. Is this correct?

Do you have a pic of the unit? Maybe if it's small
Enough you can fit it thru the license plate light..

I was looking at that but couldn't figure out how to get the licence plate light out to run the cable.

Yay: Found a route. Pop off the outside trim and feed the camera wire through the hole for the door unlock mechanism.

Have got rear camera and wireless transmitter installed and powered up. :)

Went to install the the wireless receiver and connect to headunit and have another problem. Am looking to find which of the connectors has +!2v on it. When I unplug the radio and power up, I get a "check hybrid system" error and there appears to be no +12v on the connectors (??).

I also need to find a source for the reverse signal. Found a thread which hints at the pink wire on pin5 of the gray connector but all the connectors are white.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Hybrid error is normal it will go away after 3 starts or so.. As far as reverse signal I routed mine all the way to the back easiest way IMO..
