I have a 2010 JBL non-nav model (in Canada this is called the Premium package, similar to Prius III in the USA I believe). I upgraded the head unit but left the ASL turned on. Now I'd like to turn it off. Is there a way to do it with the new HU in place (maybe on the JBL preamp itself)? I could always reopen the console, rip out my new HU and reconnect the original one then turn it off. I'm looking for a simpler way...
Sorry, I forgot to mention: I upgraded to a Pioneer AVH-P4300DVD head-unit. I did not see an ASL function in the Pioneer documentation.
More than likely, if your new head unit doesn't support the ASL feature - you're not going to be able to get it back. It's unfortunate, but I guess a compromise. I didn't even notice the ASL feature working on the stock head unit at all. Gimmick to me it seemed. Anyway, if you don't see the function in the manual, or as a setting on the new head unit, you're going to have to deal without it. Sorry!
I think the OP is assuming that --- since the ASL was left on when his old headunit was in the car --- that ASL is still on. ASL is a feature of the headunit. This is not something that gets turned on and somehow stored elsewhere as a setting in the car. If you removed your old headunit ... the ASL is off because it doesn't exist anymore.
