What (if any) mods?

Good idea. I'm going on a road trip in the fall and plan to install a bumper/hood protection kit myself as an alternative to $50 worth of temporary painters tape. Just $29.99 for either the bumper or hood kit, or $49.98 for the complete kit. It's meant to DIY as an alternative to spending $500-$700. If it's passable, I'll retain it. If not, it's coming off until the next road trip. Definitely less of an eyesore than painters tape (you can google for interesting pics of cars covered in it).

Mine is well beyond touch up paint. If I decide to keep the car much longer I will just buy a new bumper then have it and the hood repainted. I have to shoot the driver's side fender too. The fender keeps getting attacked by ignorant drivers and passengers.

 

Mostly comfort stuff for me:
- Wet Okole seat covers
- Weathertech front floor mats and rear cargo area mat (I have a dog)
- Huper ceramic tint on rear hatch only (keeps dog cooler, and protects rear window heater element when I clean off dog slobber)
- Yakima pemanent roof tracks for mounting crossbars to carry boats
- Scangauge 2 to monitor things not shown on the display

But modding the driver can give you more enjoyment than any of this other stuff. Learning to drive for mpg sounds boring but in fact it can be seriously fun.

 

I put on the body side moldings from Priuschat, the colour matched perfectly and maybe they will give some protection from door dings (I hope).

 

Where can I go to get the Clear Bra installed? Any thoughts?

Check with local tint shops and dealerships.

Gurple, good idea with the side moldings. Unfortunately some people tend to whack the fenders and rear bumper. At least in my case.

 

Not to mention whacking the area above and below the side moldings, due to varying heights of cars and SUVs. They're useless and only distract from the look.

Best line of defense is to park selectively (but not too selectively like over a line or across two parking spots as that only pisses people off and make your car susceptible to keying). So far, I've had zero dings in the two years I've had my car. I'll just use paintless dent removal for any dings I do get.

yeah where can I get this? Ryan, if you get this done at your shop let me know. Get me a list of everything you do there with pricing so I can see if I should go down there. I may have them install the backup cam, it might be a pain (not sure)

Actually I totally forgot about Ryan at AutoGuard. Thanks man. He did some other cars of mine (years ago).. That is where I went today and made an appointment. Getting it all installed in a about a week. Nice guy too and SUPER meticulous. He had a Audi R8 V10 in the shop and was wrapping the car, then has a bunch of cars going in next week to do a COMPLETE wrap of the entire car front to back.

I am getting the bumper, MOST of the hood, the side rocker panels, and mirrors. This includes a 5yr warranty at which 4.5 years from now you can take it back and for $100 he will totally replace everything for you again. Total cost is $750ish not including taxes. The Stereo place is not doing the install btw.

Did you get your car in the shop and do the other installs?

I just put my hu in today, having issues with the wheel controls. I have to test the cam input, then I will run the wiring for it.

 

I only have one 12". This is my subwoofer. It's in the trunk, pushed up against the middle rear seat. Sounds great. Excellent lows and fits flush with the back seats hence it's slanted.

 

Get the turn signal mirrors installed first or at least have them give you a rain check. You can't miss this mod. One of the best around and really adds to the side of the car.

 

Sorry for the shout but TRD REAR SWAY BAR. Should have been standard.

 

The last two mods I did are tint the windows and Tanabe springs!
