I was thinking maybe some people would like the button to match the gawdy puddle lights that are on the side mirrors they've been installing...

LOL touche. There's a line to be crossed somewhere. Generally speaking, if they're found standard on other models they're generally not considered gaudy. E.g., turn signal mirrors are found on the Japanese Prius (although they lack the puddles) and illuminated door sills (optional for the Prius) are standard on many Lexus models.

Now if I were to configure the puddle lights to flash colorfully/change in sync with the lighted wheels..... :D

Now, even I would have to say the flashing/changing lights would qualify as "ghetto"...! lol! But, I don't think a mild plain white backlighting behind the wheels is. Same concept as the LED ring/circle they put around the gear shift, or the light on the ceiling that unobtrusively shines down on the gear shift. You musta seen some wild stuff with wheel lights to feel so passionately that it's ghetto! The pics I've seen of what I like are just totally removed from that, to me. They're very tasteful. I probably do have a tendency toward more "pushing the envelope" things, because I'm an entertainer, play at a lot of glitzy/flashy places, and am used to more of that lifestyle surrounding me. However, I do try to always have it in my mind to stay just on the safe side of being gawdy or ghetto. Right on the line, but not going over it! lol

Illuminated door sills are standard here on all but the base and Premium package models.

I have those on my RX-7, but in my Prius - I keep a little handtowel over all the thresholds on all 4 doors, cause it's so easy to scrape them with your shoes (and scuffed up thresholds is a pet peeve of mine).....so it wouldn't behoove me to put it on the Prius, unfortunately, cause it does look pretty 'for show'....but mine stay covered up, therefore would never be seen...

I just used to have a gf that always had heels on of some type, and she had worn thru the paint on the edge of the car at the doorsill area, plus the plastic piece (that people replace with the lighted ones) had permanent scrape marks across it... I have always been one to lift my feet over the threshold/sill, as I considered it part of the car, and you wouldn't drag your foot across your car, obviously... So, I noticed how people just give no thought at all to that area of the car...stand on it....whatever! And, they were inclined to do the same thing to my vehicles, so even after repeatedly asking people to NOT scuff their shoes there, I ended up just keeping little handtowels that I used to "permanently" keep over them. The car dealership employees, ironically, are the most abusive to them, I've noticed over the years... Especially the ones in the service areas. I got tired of the grease from their feet being smeared across the threshold. Or across the cupholder area on the bottom of the door pocket area on the inside of the car doors where they kick it getting in or out. Anyhow.... PET PEEVE!!!

Yeah, from the youtube video you posted that had neon lights changing in sync with the interior. Even macmaster thought they looked like toys!

I'm sure you'll be fine if you keep it tasteful, as long you don't come here where people associated them with gangbangers and their underbody car lights and spinner wheels. But I can understand where you're coming from, being an entertainer.

Nice. I have them on my Lexus and they add a nice touch.

    Umm... 'chuffed'?

Even the urban dictionary lead me farther astray. (I hope)

I thought I had been clear that I didn't want anything off-the-wall like that video. I merely want a light that goes around the inside of the wheel somehow, not the wheelwell, not some 6" one that only goes part of the way, etc... Very mild and dim, like a nightlight in your house would be. And plain white... --- no changing colors, no making weird designs or patterns, etc. And one video of one individual's eccentric car is hardly enough to declare the notion of having dim backlighting on one's wheels as being 'ghetto'... I already said previously that I thought all the changing colors and creating patterns and designs WAS way too much. But I've seen no evidence of anyone just having a dim backlight on their wheels as being something that the "ghetto-ites" have a hook on already. What they have is way different, in my opinion. That's why it is almost impossible to find any pictures of what I want...

Not to take away from your Lexus but I like the fact that Toyota went the extra distance and made it unique. It says PRIUS with the HSD logo rather than just "LEXUS" like the Lexus vehicles here in Canada have.

I've actually never encountered anyone that stepped on the door sill where the illuminated sills sit. It's usually the threshold that gets scuffed because people don't lift their feet high enough.

Yeah, I agree that people scuff that threshold place from not lifting their feet up high enough to get in or out of the car... I have had inconsiderate friends step on the lighted sill of my RX-7, and even sit down in the seat, then BANG their feet off on that before they stick their feet in the car... Like they were doing me a favor somehow by doing that?? Needless to say, scratched the stainless steel... I used to be able to find a super-thick clear adhesive-ish plastic-like "tape" that would stick on over the edge of that part of the car's threshold/door sill area (many manufacturers, I've noticed, actually have some clear piece stuck on areas like that where high traffic and/or abuse is possible), but I haven't been able to find that for my last 3 or 4 cars now. I used to find it at an auto parts store, but they stopped carrying it... Guess I should have written down what it was called so I could have better luck finding it on the internet maybe... I just noticed that our cars have it stuck on the corner of the back doors (I guess where passengers might fling the door open into something?)... Anyone have any idea where to find that stuff? I'll need it even worse after the body kit's sideskirts get put on, cause they'll stick out even farther and be even more likely to get banged by people's feet...

I assume Canadian Gen III has only the "Prius" and "HSD" logos on its liftgate (with no "Toyota" rear-facing badging), just like what we have here, as opposed to some other countries where they also include the "Toyota" badge on the rear end? In a sense, "PRIUS" is more appealing than "TOYOTA" to display in the illuminated door sills and is consistent with what we have on our rear end. In contrast, "LEXUS" sounds better than "RX350."

You do make a good point. I guess the others do it too (BMW & Acura comes to mind).

I know it's been a while, and you may have finished this in a separate thread, but I didn't see any pics of this in your car, so wondered if you had indeed installed it and wondered how difficult it was. I just recently bought this:
    Google Translate

and am anxiously awaiting its arrival.
