I'm thinking of buying my first HID kit from DDM for my low beam lights and I was wondering if I needed a HID Harness, Adapter cable, and Error Eliminator. And what does it do anyways.... Thank you. :)

I hope their shipping has gotten faster. Last I heard they were a month behind.

Get the relay harness. That is really all you need. The Genii has reverse polarity wiring so you may need to reverse the polarity on your kit. I had to do it on mine.

As far as I know, DDM has their stuff back together now. This statement is right. I have the DDM kit as well. If the lights don't work, just reverse the plug that you plug into the stock headlight harness. Good luck!

EDIT: I didn't get the relay kit (to provide extra power, shortening warm-up time for the bulbs), and it's been running fine for the 1yr+ I've had the HID's installed.

I got my DDM kit about a month ago, they were delivered about 5 or 6 day's after I placed my order.

I did not get the harness. Like lulz, i just reversed the polarity. Works fine, ran it like that with my lows/fogs in my last car for about 4 years with no problems. Good luck with your HID search.

I didn't get the harness for my foglight HIDs but the passenger side light doesn't always come on so I have to cycle between on/off a couple of times to get it to work. Classic issue with not having the harness. Some get away without it and others don't.

I installed HID's. Plug and play. No harness required. They work just fine.

FWIW, HIDs use less wattage than regular bulbs so there is no need for a harness.

Yet they still have a spike during start up which is especially true for cheap Chinese ballasts as they tend to ramp up fairly quickly then drop back down.

Since we are on the subject here is a good thread on H1 bulb comparisons.

Interesting spreed sheet. What are we to look at? I see the china ballasts ran higher numbers . Also see the morimoto bulbs had lower numbers. What does all this mean?

I posted the link for general information. The Chinese ballasts work well. The just don't have as much control as the other ballasts. I'd have no reservations buying them. It's the cheap bulbs I don't like. :)

A pair of Chinese ballasts and OEM bulbs is a nice combo.
