Low beam headlights in trims II-IV use the same H11 bulbs as OEM fogs.

Do you recommend a kit that works and provides a good light?

I recommend this one, all of my family's cars using this seller's kit. It's worth it.

H11 DIGITAL HID kit LIFETIME WARRANTY

I bought an oversea market Philips HID (check my signature) kit for my Prius it cost more and take the risk of no warranty since it's oversea seller from Ebay.

Color? And do you prefer the 55 watt or 35?

Go with the 35 watt, that's what 95% of the people here on Priuschat do. If you get 55W, you run the risk of burning your headlight housing.

The HID gurus will tell you to stick with something 5000K or lower for maximum brightness and color rendition.

The Ricer fan boi's will tell you to go with 6000K or higher because it's tight!

I suggest 4300K (OEM HID) for max lumens and 5000K for the cool white look. Up to you. I kind of like the 5000K even though I have 4300K bulbs in my projectors and 5000K bulbs in my foglights.

The Morimoto HID kit consists of the same parts as the cheaper HID kits. There is no extra work involved. If you meant my HID projector kit install don't worry about that. You don't need it. :) I only did it because the GenII OEM HIDs are non-projector and don't work as well as the GenIII parts. :)

The ones I have in my foglights work fine most of the time. I didn't purchase the relay harness for them and sometimes the passenger side light doesn't come on so I have to cycle them on/off once or twice to get it to come on. They are bright but I am using the DDM ballast with a Morimoto bulb.

The slimline digital ballast I have for my headlights works perfectly with the relay harness but I did swap the bulbs out for a high end Osram bulb because they are brighter and run cooler. I wish it was less yellow though.

    Thanks.
I have a simple idea. I'm really clueless to this stuff and it's not often I feel this way about stuff to buy,but there are way too many vendors selling and I just don't know who to buy from.

Would you just pick out my headlight and fog light kits?

BTW, I do a ton of driving at night on rural highways

I'd be happy to pick out the kits but DDM's website is down apparently. You might try the vendor nedear88 suggested but since I have only purchased from DDM and TheRetroFitSource I cannot vouch for other products.

All you need is the 35watt HID kit (5000k H11 bulbs) and a relay harness. Everything you need besides the relay harness should be included in the kit. :)

What would happen if one one uses HID for both low and high beam? I see the high beam is 9005?

the one you chose from H11 SLIM DIGITAL HID kit LIFETIME WARRANTY looks great, except the double-triple costs. Why?

    Are their bulbs better?

They probably use higher quality ballasts and bulbs. For that price I would buy the Morimoto kit from The Retrofit Source. They have the best custom service I've ever experienced and specialize in high end lighting. Most of the HID gurus at HIDPlanet.com buy their stuff from TRS.

If you want to learn about HIDs check out HIDPlanet.com. Everything you want to know can't be found there.

I wouldn't bother with high beam HIDs. They are not designed to be turned off and on quickly. :) If you want more output use a high wattage PIAA halogen bulb.

If you still feel confused simply call Matt at TRS and he will help you order what you need. He is extremely helpful and ships your stuff that day.

I recommend the 35W H11 kit, choose 4300k only...this is the same brightness kelvin as the OEM HID bulb color, you should see the different at night, the intensity, the distance of the light project by HID bulb, the best part is use less energy compare to the 55w H11 halogen bulb. I bought the Philips Kit cause I want name brand, but the Retro Solution kits are very reliable. and it does not cost arm and leg like the Philips HID kit, they are plug n' play, no need adding wire harness or relay etc, just be aware that the HID ballast produce over 23k AC current in order to ignite the HID bulb, so...caution needed when install them. I found a youtube video and take the idea where to hide the HID ballast and it is stealth installed. here is the url
