Gauging Interest on JDM Full LED Tail lamps

I didnt get contacted (yet?) so I guess im not a tester.

 

I am one of the testers and will get the HC (red len/regular chrome) model. It's scheduled to be shipped from their Asia distribution center on the 23rd and I have a tracking number. All the testers have been asked to provide reviews on open box, installation, after installation, post-installation follow-up, personal thoughts and feedbacks, etc.

I know one other tester who's getting the SB model, but any other testers out there PM me!

Cool, as I was some what interested in the HC model and you have the same car as me, so I'm interested to see just how the all red contrasts with the black car.

BTW, do you know what color car the SB model will be on?

I was selected as another tester and will be getting the SB model. As 32K wrote, we have been asked to provide a write-up, so that will be forthcoming.

 

anxiously awaiting. I dont want to do many "mods" to my fiancees prius but I think the smoked lens lights on my Winter grey metallic prius would look killer!

 

So that makes myself (model HC on Black) and HI MPG (model SC on Winter Gray) as the only two testers. Our packages are already in LA going through customs so they'll be here very soon.

I'll try to expedite the process so they can be made available for a possible GB sooner rather than later.

 

Good to hear you'll be able to test them out soon. From what I can tell and read on the picture on the 1st post, the turn signals are also LEDs and are definitely not halogen bulbs.

Therefore, I'm wondering if you guys are going to experience the fast blinker syndrome from the low voltage LED turn signals. That's unless there's a resistor built into the harness in the tail lights to regulate the voltage & signal.



Also after looking at the pic on the 1st post, I kind of wish somebody was testing out the all clear tail lights. Even though they're almost the same look as our US factory tail lights, I still would have liked to see a side-by-side picture of the US clear tail and the JDM clear tail lit up on the same car.

 

Check out the other full LED tail lamps that someone installed and they have the turn signal LED canceler box which controls the blink rate. Ours likely have the same thing.

I really wanted to get selected but oh well. I figured that there would be more than just two testers.

How long is the test and evaluation period, are you at liberty to say?

 

We were asked to give out reviews on a long term basis (3 months). These lights are brand new for this year, hence the testing, which will allow them to catch any potential issues before making them available for GB. However, positive reviews (we'll be unbiased though) and an overwhelming interest in these lights will likely accelerate the process, so everyone should continue to indicate their interest during this GI campaign. It's the only way for you to get them as cheaply as possible, without having to import them yourself and pay through the nose like Bino and w202mae did.

 

Intrested. Head light LEDs for running lights and turn signals.

 

If these can be offered in the $275-$300 range, I think I would be in. Those SBs would look great on my winter grey V. I wish I would've paid more attention to this thread from the beginning so I could've been in the running as a tester!

 

In Japan they list for Yen 39'900 from Valenti, street price is Yen 35'500. With the current exchange rate and combined shipping of 50+ units a pricing below the others advertised on ebay seems not to be possible. We'll see ...
