Ran into this thread quite by accident but it sure was a fun read. And, as a possible future turd, I was not offended in the least. Thank you all.

In all seriousness...well maybe not all seriousness...

But of all the forums I visit, primarily automotive and sports related, I find Prius Chat routinely, probably the best organized and most civil.

I suppose people are free to use an "ignore" function if it exists, but I don't really grasp the psychology behind it.

Even if you disagree with someone, or don't like their perceived tone? This is an voluntarily active enviroment. You might need an ignore function to "not see" my posts...but you don't need an ignore function to simply not read them.

Trolling happens in Prius Chat, but there is such an active and passionate group of well eductated regulars that usually anyone posting with the simple intent to inflame or annoy...get's revealed quickly and often the exchange is IMO entertaining. I think I've witnessed many "troll" threads that unintentionally to the "troll" morphed into a real and legitimate discussion.

Perhaps people are ignoring my posts. I certainly have had disagreements and debates...and I actively give my opinion. But Prius Chat is such a "clean" enviroment that I hardly can imagine anyone I'd bother putting on an ignore list...

We can make analogies like it's an "Roped Off Adult Section"...or "It's like "labeled dog turds"...but it seems to me, it's more like a child...not liking someone or something they hear and reacting by plugging their ears and going "La, La, La! I can't hear you!"....

Really in Prius Chat? There isn't anyone I would bother..with ignoring...and communication and debate I would of presumed is a big part of why we are here to start with..

I put a great value on people that I may disagree with...that actually don't have the same opinion as me on something. And even the most heated debates in Prius Chat usually remain civil. Try going to a "Sports Forum" and telling someone their "favorite" player is past their prime or should be traded...THEN you are going to want an ignore function...

Oh well, if you want to plug your ears and go "La! La! La!" ....go ahead I suppose. But my philosophy is pretending something doesn't exist...is rarely a good way to go through life...

The point of using the ignore feature is so that you do not have to read the drivel posted by some members. The point for me is that I am less likely to respond to something that was posted by an ignored individual. True maybe I should have more self control but when someone posts something completely asinine it's hard not to hit the reply button. At the end of the day I'd rather not be bothered by the people I have deemed lunatics or troublemakers. It's just easier to scroll through threads without their words taking up space.

Me, it's not you. Really - don't worry about it. The previous posts asking 'where'd everybody go?' are just teasing. I can't imagine anyone has you on ignore. Unless you're a frequent visitor to the House of Politics, the ignore function is completely unnecessary. Moderators are quick to edit out even the bad words, personal insults are not tolerated, and genuine trolls are quickly shoved out the airlock. At least 99% of this site is a clean, safe environment where people behave themselves and for the most part respect each other. With rare exception, most 'disagreements' become discussions where posters listen and sometimes even learn something. Stay out of the politics, and everything will be fine.

PriusChat, Danny, etc. hardly ever takes out the trash compared to some other forums. For the most part, I like it that way.

Have you ever visited MacRumors? An impassioned thread might go from 260 replies to 170 the next day, and that's a pretty clean forum. Talk about censorship!

    I'm not "personally" sweating it...

If anyone wants to put me on their ignore list? I suppose they are perfectly free to do so...

I'm not worrying about it...I just threw my above idea's out, because I don't quite grasp the whole "concept" of using an ignore function...especially within Prius Chat...

It does really seem like the cyber kindergarten equivalent of plugging ones ears to not hear something someone may not want to hear...

It seems counterproductive to debate..and exchange of opinion and idea..

But evidently people want this option.

In a larger picture? I think it is a flaw within all communication today. We have such amazing access to so many avenues of information and idea exchange...BUT...they are so specific. We've gotten to the point where people can tailor what they WANT to hear to exactly match what they WILL hear....with no perhaps dissenting or alternative opinion...

Whatever your opinion is...you can choose to only hear those that agree with you...whether that is about Automobiles or Politics...

And IMO that limits growth..and understanding...

I'm not going to ignore anyone...because I'd rather not ignore anyone....

Your choice...but I'd warn you that through history? Some of the greatest individuals and greatest agents of change- were those many deemed "lunatics and troublemakers".

Personally? Give me the company of lunatics and troublemakers...I'd rather dance with the heathens than sip tea, with the cutting edge of civility...

As would I. But I suspect you haven't seen the House of Politics. Even the moderators have given up.

I'd rather punch the heathens in the face for being flippant with every post but since I cannot reach through the monitor and bit%^ slap them I choose to ignore them.

You obviously haven't met my buddy Thai. I don't sip tea either, I call it like I see it, but some people have real issues.

    3000 posts baby!

Ah yes, but being a lunatic and troublemaker does not make a person an agent of change, sometimes they are just lunatics and troublemakers without redeeming qualities. If they don't make any worthwhile contributions to the forum, not even some good humor, then into the bit bucket with them.

There are presently 4 people on my ignore list, 2 of which haven't posted in 2011, one hasn't posted since March and only one is like fresh a turd on the sidewalk, so I'm not missing much.

And this is from someone who insults one's mother blatantly and cowardly disappears??? And sadly, the moderators here tolerate such pathetic language and behavior.

Hey buddy, and you're the one who gets all girly when your friends make fun of your Prius...kid, you have lots to learn about the real world! And you wonder why this kid always complain about people crapping on him...or, wait, i mean his "car". :p

And when was the last time that you actually backed up anything that you type on this forum, kiddo? Hey, i am still waiting for Toyota info on those 99.999% of those who think the Prius is an econobox. How about coughing up some background about your luxury car ownership experience?? And here goes macmaster into the darkness...until he cowardly climbs onto someone else's post to take a cheap shot at me.

You are indeed like F8L...always cowardly insulting others and then runs away....:) But, i stand corrected, macmaster comes back frequently and humps the leg of any guy who gets on the anti-G3 bandwagon!!

But, hey, good thing no one is reading this post...i like it!

How's that audiophile ears of yours?? Interestingly, he claims to have EXTENSIVELY tested the JBL system. Of course, a simple search reveals that he tested the JBL system by using FM radio for a quick second just before a testdrive! :D This is a guy who is giving audio advice to PC members. Shocking!

And you guys wonder why i make fun of these dumb short-bus kids!! :welcome:

I'd love to talk to whoever sent you that private message.(Are you sure it wasn't yourself, Thai? It sure sounds like it.) By the way, I don't post a lot to reach 3000 posts; I reach 3000 posts because I post a lot. There's a distinction. And the PDF on plastidip wasn't mine. That was from another PriusChat member and I think he did a terrific job.

You may think you're "winning" or having fun by eliciting reactions from us, but guess what buddy, you've been reported several times and after a few months of showing your true colors, many people here simply do not like you anymore. Maybe that's why you're so defensive and abrasive. So I'm sorry for whatever I did to make you that way.

I've made many friends on PriusChat and I know first hand that there are good, helpful people in this forum. They know who they are. And then there's you.

Kiddo, did the PM hurt your feelings?? Tissue? You must cry like a girly man everynight! How pathetic!

Btw, read it again dumbass, the writing style is different. And I would not know anything about your dumb wheel whatever crap that you're into.

And weren't I supposed to be on your ignore list? Moron.

Remind me...why would i ever want to be your friend? I don't like girly man....
