Hey guys, how is the Prius market in your area? I just ordered an inbound III with no packagss for $300 under MSRP. Most dealers I talked to are either charging MSRP or are installing outrageously priced add-ons. However, I have also read online that some dealers are starting to discount again. This is the first time that I have paid near sticker for a car; I usually pay well below invoice. So, how did I do on the price, considering market conditions? Did I negotiate a fair price? If anything, I think I may be posting this for consolation since I'm getting ridiculed by friends and the guys on my other car forum for paying 25k for a Prius. Thanks. MB860 ?
You sound as if you're getting buyer's remorse. We all go through it especially when it's time to let loose the bucks. Just from reading other PC price threads you'll find that you've done well for your 2011.
I wouldn't worry about it. If it was a good deal for you, then it was a good deal...and from what I'm reading, 25 kilobucks isn't bad for a new G3 over there in the PRC. Good LUCK with the new car!
I was ridiculed by my friends too for wanting to buy a Prius. Set yourself apart from the crowd and get what YOU want. You can smile when you know they're paying 2-3 times what you are for a tank of gas every week. Sounds like you did really well on the price. Congrats!! When does it come in?
Thanks. Sometime later this week, I think. The system is showing F status so I guess it is either on a truck or awaiting transport. MB860 ?
OT... Yikes...that actually reminds me of a set of headphones I purchased recently. Not only does it include "Made in China" but they also printed P.R.C. in parentheses beneath it, which is a first for me. Dangerous times.
With the lower supply some dealers have been trying to gouge heavily. I'm glad you didn't allow them to push too far. But it's a shame you couldn't wait. Manufacturing is ramping back up and output should be back to normal by fall. As far as the friends go, just keep answering with numbers.
I just got $400 below MSRP on a Prius II with nothing but window tint added. I figure I can snag the other essentials (carpet mats, bumper cover, etc) from the store here on PriusChat or on Ebay for much less. My local dealer was $2k over MSRP. 40 miles away I got $400 below. It's all about location apparently I am assuming no price gouging when I go to pickup in a month or so --- since I got the deal on paper.
There are no ads for Prius in my area, (Portland, ME) for the past two months. The only ad by a dealer has been for $23,895 for a 2008 (no, not a misprint), but it doesn't list what options it has, nor does it list its mileage. I suppose I could sell mine for a couple of $thousand over invoice, which is what I paid for it in March. In other words, "You done good!"
So the Prius three after the discount is about $25.2k or so? After you add in the roughy 10-11% in tax, fees, dmv, you looking at about $28k for a base 3?
Re: Trade ins---??Latest Prius Pricing Has anyone had a non prius trade in? If yes, will I expect to get below wholesale on my trade? Is it beneficial to visit several dealers?
down here in so cali, i was quoted for $32,760 (pearl white/dark grey interior) for package 4 with navi and solar panel. it's pretty much msrp. if my wife didn't need a car soon, i'd wait but getting ready to pull the trigger in the next few days to lock it down. it hasn't arrive at the dealer yet though. anyone else in so cali getting a better deal?
Any chance to get a package 2 or 3 at MSRP in SoCal? I heard right after the 4th, many dealers are getting tons of cars. Is that true? Damn, I should have bought them back in January when I started looking.
I am in Portland, OR. I have booked a basic 2011 Prius III for MSRP. The agreement is for MSRP, whatever it turns out to be at the time of delivery. What is everyone paying in the great Northwest?
Local dealer had two that I saw today. They were marked $1,495.00 above MSRP. They were Prius 2 models.
I can't speak to pricing, but since you're in So Cal, DianneWhitmire posts here often. You might want to ping her. I've never met her so I can't speak to her pricing or anything.
