The wife wanted a new car. She has never had a new car before so we ordered a 2011 prius III with navigation. The wait is killing me. Its been two weeks and the dealer said it would be about 10 weeks. arggg. We put a deposit down. Anyone know the distributer for the IL region that could get me one soon. LOL I had fun test driving the 2010 car they had on the lot. I sure hope I hear something soon to when our dealer will get an allotment. So far I am second inline for one.
Have you tried searching on the Toyota web-site to see if another dealer has the car you want available? It's not 100% up to date, but you can usually find out which dealers have multiple cars in stock to know where to start. What a nice husband you are! Mine bought my Prius for me, and he calls it my iphone holder. Welcome to Priuschat!
Wow. And here I am sitting here feeling the same way. But I'm only waiting until Tuesday to pick up our "new" 2010. It hadn't made it onto the dealer's lot yet, it had just had it's Toyota Green Light certification inspection and hadn't been cleaned yet. They will have it all day Monday to clean it and buff out some scratches. The wait is driving me nuts! I can't imagine waiting ten weeks. I think my head would melt or something!
Come on...unless you are waiting for a bus...the anticipation is the fun part. Well, owning one will be fun too...but I've always enjoyed the waiting...the dream often surpasses the reality.... If you are lucky enough to have one in the pipeline? My advice, pretend Christmas is coming and enjoy the wait.
+1...even better, the real fun is when you get behind the wheel to take your Prius baby home. Stock up on waxing diapers, forumula and NO throwing up in the car!
If it's any consolation, I ordered mine in January and the expected delivery date has been pushed back (again) to 1 July — 20 weeks from date of order.
I guess I really lucked out... I didn't put a deposit down (with Performance Toyota of Papillion, Nebraska) until May 5th... not just for ANY model... but a III in blizzard pearl with the solar/navigation package. Within a week, they were able to find one coming in to a KC dealer which they swapped one of their orders for to get... and I had mine by the 1st of June! I did have to accept the light tan interior instead of gray... which could be tough keeping clean. Prior to the dealer pulling that off... they were telling me at least 12-16 weeks.
I suppose I've always been a little dysfunctional in this manner. I was the kid that liked Christmas Eve...more than Christmas. Weird I know.
Then I'm weird too...Christmas Eve is way more exciting; and opening a Prius present is Heavenly joy of new car smell, instrumentation overload, shifter fear, how do I shut it off wonderment, etc, etc, etc..
I got mine at Toyota of Naperville. Naperville Illinois southwest of Chicago. They are a very large dealership and usually sell the prius inbound sold before it arrives. I waited a few weeks for mine 3 weeks. They charge msrp my salesman( Damien) said it was the owners policy ( Dan Wolf) never to charge over msrp for any vehicle usually called MARKET ADJUSTMENT.
Geez, Maybe I should be getting antsy, ordered a Five on May 7, no word, no call, nada, zip, zero. If they take long enough It may be a 2012. I think I'll get a little more involved in this transaction, but I already know that there were no Fives allocated for this area. :ballchain:
Hey guys, this should help a bit... AutoTempest - Find your next car... Faster. This is a search engine that searches Craig's List based on a mile distance from the zip code you input. When you get the results, you will get Ebay, Cars.com, Autotrader, and some others. Of course you also get results on what is called Searchtempest, which also is based on mile distance. Not all the website tabs recognize all the info you intially put in, but it is very useful. Great way to see what dealerships have for Prii. Good luck
fruskybri, any update on when you are getting yours? I figure I'm 2 weeks behind you and am being driven crazy by the wait. It's been aost six weeks for us waiting on a basic Prius III.
There are Two" and Three"s in Michigan. Specifically Warren, Mi Toyota, and Dunning in Ann Arbor. There are others, I can't recall them all, check Toyota Michigan Dealers, also look in Grand Rapids, Ypsilanti and Jackson, Mi closer to Illinois.
Starting to get upset with the dealer. Change of plan on the Prius 3. After waiting 2 months they had a Red Prius 4 inbound so we added the options that we wanted and got it this last friday. After saying one price 28,815 they put down 29,032 on the contract (My fault for not looking) Then they forgot to collect the $2000 cash down from me.(Their fault) Then we got the extended warr that cost way more then on here. It was $1960 for 6yr/75000. (Feels like I got ripped.) So when they call for the 2000 I owe them im going to say rip up the warr they have on file and hand me the $257 money back. Starting to wonder if toyota is worth the hassle.
Sounds like they tacked on a "documentation charge". We had similar experience, (at Open Road Toyota, in Port Moody, BC, Canada): They present us with a bill of sale with documentation amount showing "included", shook on it, they then re-did the BOS on their "company equivalent" form, and what do you know: "included" had become "$295.00". I complained, they took it off, muttering that it was highly irregular... If you agree to price, and they then try to up it, you could threaten to sue.
Got an e-mail that our Prius III may be here by Monday. That would make 8-9 weeks from order to delivery. Prius III with no accessories or options, not even floor mats.
