p.s. when I was in MR-S scene, people there spent a lot to pimp their rides... from body kits that were 4-5k, to wheels, to custom turbos, to custom suspensions to custom interiors.

it is good that Prius gets attention from people who love cars and not just saving money.

But, you had a MR-S...and thus, custom suspension, engine, body, etc. makes a lot more sense than on a Prius. It is like buying a G-wagen and slamming it with 24" rims and low body kit. Now, if there is a kit that makes the Prius super sleek (to get even lower Cd) or engine mods to get more power while maintaining same efficiency, then i would be a big fan of whoever who decides to spend money on that. Why? Because you are modding to the car's design/pedigree/whatever you call it.

BUT, this is his money...and i hate it when other people try to tell other folks how to spend their money...so, i should shut up right about now! :focus:

GoldPianoGarden, congrats on your purchase. Enjoy it in good health! (Tell your parents that this son won't spend their money on Prius bodykits...i only take cash thank you.)

Thanks! Yeah, I was just talking with the order dude, and I was telling him that lots of people had been riding me about any change in the fuel efficiency that this might cause, and he was telling me that there are "die-hard" Prius people that are all about the efficiency thing....whereas then there are those of us that just want their car to look hot (not "hot" as in stolen! lol). So, thanks for the moral support! Trust me, dropping this much cash at once has unnerved me a tad.

Money's a funny thing. We'll clip coupons to get a free Big Mac at McDonalds but will willingly spend thousands on car parts.

I'm a big fan of clean rides, whether it's a Prius, Civic, etc. In some ways, these cars need the mods more than their sporty superiors.

The coupon thing is SO true! lol! And I totally agree on your last statement about how our cars actually NEED this "pimping" more than "normal" sports cars. It helps the general public see it in a different light. Anytime I tell someone what my car is, or someone asks what I'm driving now (since I normally have always swapped cars every 1 or 2 years), the first thing they say is, "Oh! What's your mileage?" That's all people associate our cars with---- just a gas miser, not a car's car. They don't say WOW when you tell them you drive a Prius, cause the gas mileage thing is all that's associated with it. Maybe now as more people pimp out their Prii, it'll get more and more view as a "regular" car that you can customize and make special, not just an economy box.

LMAO. Oh yeah well rather than buying milk at school, sometimes I took milk from home in a water bottle. Didn't hit the mark so much at lunch time.

He's got this elusive book that's just strictly things for the Prius that can be ordered. I think it sucks that he has it in California, and I'm clear across the U.S. on the East coast... Obviously some "for dealers eyes only" kind of book....

We were so poor when I was a kid, I think we were on the Free Lunch Program... So, I, too, appreciate how well my mother who was single-since-I-was-2-with-no-help-whatsoever-from-the-sperm-donor-father has made it now and is happy to do these things that make me happy...

Is there a difference whether it is your money or your mother's?

I've seen enough Two and a Half Men to know this probably isn't true.

I didn't mean it in a negative way. I 99% quit my job, in case you are new to the situation, and began taking care of my grandmother full-time (my mother's mother)... (I occasionally am able to do a tiny bit of work, hence the other 1%...) We all had this "agreement", and my mother pays all my bills, etc., for doing this extremely intense task of mine. So, if I was going by my current situation for the last year and a half (well, almost 2 years now), where I might actually work my trade once or twice a month and earn $50, then I am not able to spend money like that. It's more than I make all year, based on my current "employment income". However, mom has lots of money, & buys me whatever I want. So, that's what I meant. Since it is her money, and she knows my granny "traumatizes me" (lol) from daylight until dark, and she understands how incredibly grueling it is to deal with Granny all day and night, my mother is usually eager to help me any crazy way she can, even when I come up with "unnecessary" whims such as this....cause she knows it brings some brightness back into my life. I am incredibly grateful for her help, and hope that one day I will have someone out there that will do the same for me if/when I get in my grandmother's condition. So, I hope the "pathetic" thing was just in a joking way...

You have NO IDEA how appropriate that is that u said it, cause that is my grandmother's highlight of her day ---- watching Wheel of Fortune, then Two and a Half Men.... EVERY day! lol
