Well, I've been hashing this mess out since last November, I guess, regarding the body kit pieces, the whole wheel thing, and all that nonsense. Everything seems to have NOT been cooperating with me!! lol! But, I finally got the prices on all the pieces on Friday. I have until "today" (officially, since it's 4:30 in the morning, even tho I haven't gone to bed yet) to call and give the go ahead and fork out the money. The body kit and the accompanying wheels costs $7000. I could have died. I still have the added expense of buying tires to go on the wheels, and also paying the bodyshop to install and paint everything. I was originally wishing to go with the Tommy Kaira kit that is posted various places on the internet:

BUT, it turns out to be just a rendering back in the pre-production/testing phase, and they didn't end up making it... SO, the next best thing was the Fledermaus kit:

So, I'm getting all of it, plus the wheels shown in the pic:

The wheels will be the chrome finish just like these, except they special-made them for me with the rivets around them like the black ones here have, cause I didn't want black:
I'm also getting the Tommy Kaira rear wing/spoiler:

And I'm getting the Ikki rear hatch spoiler:

    and the Ikki hood bonnet/spoiler:

I still have to call and order later today, and I still have to go to bed and sleep on it for a couple of hours, but I just can't believe how expensive this stuff is nowdays! lol

    - At the current 80 yen per dollar exchange rate, your $7000 U.S. are getting you 560,000 yen.

    - Last I was in Japan, 3 years ago or so, it was 120 yen per $1.

    – Could'a, would'a... at 120¥/$1, it would cost you "only" $4,700.

Unfortunately, there was no Gen III Prius back then, etc., etc.

Keep in mind that car is either bagged or dropped. So low as to be impractical to drive daily. The result of a body kit on a daily driver is either a broken kit or a funny looking kit because the car sits too high.

Either way the setup is god aweful expensive IMO but if you have the money and your like it's then go for it. The front part looks kinda cool. :)

Good for you GPG. Glad it's all coming together, I can't wait to see it.

I'm super content just being able to maintain my car now. I've done as many minor upgrades as I can do just to make it look rogue enough. The next level is a quantum leap to thousands of $$$ as you're doing. I'll save that for my next car, lol.

That would have been hella nicer for sure!!!! I'm still freaking out about that price. I've been driving around with this cracked up back bumper from where someone rear-ended me in my work parking lot while I was inside, and have been driving myself crazy all these months emailing and calling and emailing and calling -- just TRYING to get this ball rolling..... Then the tsunami/earthquake happens and throws a wrench in everything.... Then I finally get the call, and the price is a lot more than I ever thought.... Funny thing is (not really funny when she eventually finds out), it's my mother's $$$ that's paying for this, and she just recently said, "Well it's not costing over $2,000, is it?" I'm like, "Oh, probably somewhere around that!" (yeah right! lol)

I haven't bought a body kit in a number of years, tho, nor have I bought wheels in a long time. I've been driving Infiniti, Lexus, BMW, and nice sports cars that came with jamming wheels and bodies to start with, so I didn't have to buy all this stuff... Bad thing is, if I don't order it today, then I gotta wait another month. They just do orders at the end of each month, and then everything is sent over in one big container on boat for less money ($800 for everything combined, $600 for JUST the front spoiler, rear spoiler, and the side skirts, if I decided to order the wheels or other stuff later). So, I'd be spending a ton more money on shipping in the long run if I didn't order it all together.. Aargghhh! lol

What mom don't know won't hurt her. LOL. Don't worry breh, it'll all be worth it. Yeah, best to get your order in ASAP if you're sure it's what you want. A month is a like a lifetime for this sort of stuff.

I thought I was definite on the Kaira kit, then they ended up NOT making the front I loved, and made this one instead:

and I think they just ended up making it the ugliest front spoiler I've ever seen. It's like they tried to tack EVERYTHING possible onto it... There's just TOO MUCH going on with it. Your eyes can't focus on anything on it cause it's too much of a jumble of everything. So, I like the Fledermaus front:

cause it has the horizontal bars/slats on either side of the front curving downward, which might lend itself to the addition of LEDs later on (the LEDs on the Audis and other foreign cars tend to curve upward or downward at either end)...

If it were me I would not spend that much unless u r taking the car to the next level.. And that next level is going to be waaaY more then 7k. Drop and paint alone could cost you another 2k to 5k. Do u have that? If not, then maybe u should look at other alternatives.. AIS kit? How much is that? Maybe u can save ur money on the wheels and get something more easily accessible. How much are the wheels? The wheels to me are just ok.
I would think long and hard before spending that much cash. Are the parts made already or r u going to have to wait for them to be made? That is another thing to consider. Most custom kits like this still have to be made, thus adding 2-3 months before u see it.

But it is ur money!! Or ur moms lol. Just make sure you have enough cash to finish this project!! I don't want to see ur parts for sale and you losing money because u can't finish ur project. I've seen friends do that.

The wheels (18 x 7.5) were $1800, plus $800 to ship..... or I could get the entire kit and wheels for the same shipping amount... go figure. Must just be a flat rate for shipping something over in their container on the ship... It'll take 10-12 weeks to get everything. The price per wheel was $450. The price, I think, for just the old stock "ugly" Prius wheels is $450..... So, I thot the cost for these nice ones must be pretty good... ??? Like I said, I haven't bought wheels in quite a few years now. The Tommy Kaira rear wing was $1275. And the Ikki hood bonnet/spoiler, and the Ikki rear upper hatch spoiler are each $465. So, all those things, and the wheels add up to about $7K...

The kit itself, which consists of the front and rear full spoilers and the side skirts, was $2200. The wheels were $1800...

I did follow thru on the AIS kit...

    Front Bumper - 1780
    Rear Bumper - 1335
    Side Skirts - 675
    Full Body Kit - 3,790

So, the $2200 for those pieces from the Fledermaus kit was much better....

I talked with someone on here several months ago about lights that they were going to come up with that had the larger LEDs in them, like the Audi cars do, for example. They were selling headlights for the Prius online (eBay, I think.... I've slept since then), but they were just tiny LEDs, which I wasn't crazy about. So, I messaged them on the forum, and we all threw back and forth some thoughts and suggestions, and they were gonna work with their person who designed these lights for them and see what they could come up with, then get back with us. I've sent them a couple messages since, with no response.....

YES!!! IT WAS DRUNKEN MASTER!!! I haven't even been able to find who it was that we were having the conversation with on the forum about the headlights with the LEDs in them, and that was it. Don't know why he just never responded.... He was gonna have them see about coming up with another solution so that there could be the larger Audi-ish LEDs clear across the headlight... The link u provided is indeed the exact headlight I originally had seen that sparked that whole conversation previously. I've just had so many other things going on, and have been so fed up with driving around with this busted up rear spoiler on my Prius, that I just finally stopped pursuing that, since he never responded....

But that image there is the type of thing they were gonna try to come up with.....

I have no idea why it's showing all those different copies of those
LED lights from that Amazon link.....

There! I think I fixed it.... It was displaying half a dozen of the exact same photo of the Prius with LEDs in the headlights on that Amazon link....

Maybe you should involve your mom in this decision...since it is her money???? Frankly, for a $24k car, you're spending almost 1/3 the cost of the whole car on a body kit (and rims) that will likely make the Prius even slower and less economical. Seriously?! I know that it is not your hard-earned money, but you should not just piss your mom's money away like that! Personally, i would laugh my arse off if i see a Prius like the ones in the picture that still takes over 10 seconds to reach 60 and still with stock suspension (e.g. torsion beam).

$7k to me better buy me an extra second or two off the clock (aka engine power) and more handling prowess...not just a freaking body kit with big rims!

Sorry to be negative...but dude, you need step back and take a look at the bigger picture...you're wasting a lot of money........on a PRIUS!! You pick the wrong platform to do all these expensive aftermarket mods!

BTW, can your parents adopt me? I am easy to care for...and i just need an extra $5k per month to feed me.... :)

I AM uncomfortable with the amount of money it has turned out to cost, but I don't like any other body kits, and any "close seconds" cost even more... I had considered "piecing together" different pieces from different body kits, but everyone tells me that u have to stick with a complete kit from one manufacturer in order for the kit to flow together correctly visually... I guess that makes sense, since the sides from one manufacturer might stick down lower than the front and back from another manufacturer...

I don't know what other wheels (aftermarket) cost, but I assume that the price of these isn't too out of the norm, since others had told me how they cost comparable to the cost of the stock Prius wheels... The other set of wheels I liked was these:

Apparently, though, they cost about $5,000..... So, you do the math! lol

I've always had fast cars that just came that way already, so I guess I've had my share of all the Fast and Furious scene, and all that "tricking out" that I did in the past to cut more and more off the 0-60 times.. I said in a previous post that my 2 options that I was given for a new car was a new Camaro (which I love the body of it as-is), and a new Prius (which needs some work....)... My mother, who was buying, chose the Prius.. So, now I gotta get it looking up to par with the Camaro (in a manner of speaking only) since I'll be living with it for a while now. I've not considered cutting acceleration times, or improving handling, cause any driving I do it purely Interstate.... and everything is just a big square grid. You could about lock your steering wheel and not worry about working your steering wheel since there's no "handling" involved. I will drop it after all this is done, but I have to see what difference the body kit and the new wheels make to the height of everything concerned before I decide which way to go with the whole lowering endeavor....

and mileage isn't a concern, since the best mileage I probably got on any previous cars was 20mpg, so right now the 46-48 that I average is pretty darn good, and a dent in that wouldn't be very detrimental.

I'll ask her about the possibility of adoption! lol

+1. GPG and I have already been over this. He has an interesting financial situation that allows these upgrades, even if he chose the wrong car. ;)

Well, it's done now.... I just gave them all the payment info cause they were finalizing all the orders for Japan for the end of the month today... If I waited any longer, it'd go on the end of NEXT month. If I wait another month to get this thing over with (all the deciding part of it), I'll go crazy! lol So, it's officially paid for now.

those were normal prices, not much you can do there.

make sure you go to the reputable shop for painting and fitting!
