Hey guys... Yesterday I got hit with the red triangle of death, along with PS, Main Battery, and Exclamation icons. My local Toyota service center can't see me until Monday, so I've started looking around at battery replacement options, just to be prepared for the worst-case. I came across adoptapart.com, who sells reconditioned 2001-2003 Prius batteries for $800 (or $1200 upgraded with Gen II cells). I checked them out on BBB and they have a good rating with zero complaints, but I thought I'd check here and see if anyone here has used or can vouch for them and/or their product.

    Thanks,

    -Shawn

I paid a bit more for a Re-InVolt (NC) and am pleased with their work.

I've read good things about them, but their battery is more than double the cost. If Adopt A Part has a decent product, I would really rather save the money. I'm trying not to decimate my savings account.

I would highly recommend getting a pack with GenII cells no matter which solution you go for.

I think Adopt-A-Part is a good outfit. There is also a hybrid specialist in Florida that could help, Josh Mellor, of Mellors Automotive in West Melbourne.

I've purchased a battery and other Gen1 parts from Eric at Adapt a part. He's a good guy and owns gen1 and gen2 Prii as his daily drivers. I know he tests all his cells, and he installs the entire pack in his personal car then drives it a few days to test real world conditions before shipping....so no surprises after you install. Thumbs up ++++
