Ev/Eco/Pwr/Normal gives 6 modes, not 4!

I've noticed that almost every description of the GenIII modes treats EV mode as if it was another exclusive mode like the way Normal, Eco and Pwr are exclusive modes. Ie: if you're in Eco, you're not in Pwr nor Normal.

But EV is a toggle mode that's independent from Normal/Eco/Pwr, meaning you can have:

    1. Normal
    2. Eco
    3. Pwr
    4. Normal+EV
    5. Eco+EV
    6. Pwr+EV

Admittedly, I don't notice that big a difference among the last 3 in terms of performance or FE, so one could argue that modes 4,5,6 are effectively just "one" EV mode.

    Anyone notice a significant different?

If I'm not mistaken, if you activate EV Drive mode in PWR mode, it'll cancel PWR Mode (and go to the normal setup)

I just sat in my running 2010 GenIII (but still in P) and took these 6 photos of each mode.

I've noticed that, but it's not like you can go fast in EV so that's moot.

When you say you "don't notice that big a difference among the last 3 in terms of performance or FE" what difference exactly did you notice?

I don't think there's any difference in your 4 - 6 above, vs. 1 - 3. When you enable EV mode, it's in EV mode until the system goes outside the parameters for EV mode, and it then goes back to whatever mode it was in before. And EV mode is the same regardless of what mode the car was in prior to EV being enabled.

Is A/C less aggressive in Eco+EV vs. Normal+EV?

It won't matter what mode you're in if you don't get gas soon... :D

I haven't looked for an A/C diff, but I can look at the A/C power draw with my SCII the next chance I get.

Eco+EV compared to Normal+EV seems to have a mushier throttle, and Pwr+EV compared to Normal+EV feels like it has a snappier throttle. Since you want to avoid too high an acceleration rate in order to stay in EV mode, then being in Eco+EV makes more sense than Normal+EV or Pwr+EV.

And yeah, I gassed up later that evening. :)

Don't forget Reverse and B mode. Factor those in and you can get 18 modes. We should probably also count Off mode, Neutral mode, and Park mode. Now I've lost count.

Wouldn't EV mode trump whatever other mode is selected/illuminated rendering it ineffective as long as you were in EV mode?

    But see post #8.

I have had a play and you still get the different accelerator mappings when in EV+ECO or EV+PWR mode.
