Please help with a complete 2011 Rear Bumper Protector.

I picked up my 2011 Prius II this morning, and,....

I've searched the threads for rear bumper protectors, but it seems both the appique and protector are for protecting the top half of the bumper from possible cargo/luggage scratches.

I need a protection from street parking, i.e. FULL rear bumper (film type?) protector to guard against parking dings.

Do one of these items actually do this even though it's not discussed? Please send all links and comments as they are very much appreciated.

    Thanks!!

Curt trailer hitch receiver and a mean, rusty, gnarly hitch jutting out about 9" beyond the bumper. 'Guaranteed to keep 'em off your butt!

good plan if i didn't need to fit in small curbside spots myself:) i was thinking getting some of that rubber that lines the rim of flatbeds and cutting it to size?

Being serious for a moment, I did install a Curt Hitch Receiver with a Go Rhino Step Bumper on our 2003 CR-V... rear-ended twice, no damage to our car.

A friend's Gen II Prius rear bumper was slightly dented and scraped by a cell phone distracted driver... body shop got $750 out of the insurance company. So I agree. I'd like some sort of not-too-ostentatious cushioning for the rear bumper.

Toyota Europe does make some sort of "Bumper Corner Protectors," Part Number PZ415-G0520-00 01. Obviously more for the corners than the middle of the bumper. :)

I know that your trying to save your rear bumper from other drivers. I liked the idea of a rear hitch receiver.......You can always just throw it in the back while your backing in......then put it back on when your finished parking......I would put a red fiberglass stick on it.....sticking up.....so that the guy behind you knows that there is something there......I think this is your best bet......

Now to put the same thing on the front end. !!!!!!!

Google "Bumper Bully" or "Bumper Badger." I see them all over NYC. They're ugly as sin. Basically it's a slab of rubber that attaches inside the trunk or hatch and hangs over the bumper. I have no idea how effective they are.

Check out www.autosportcatalog.com, exterior accessories...might be what you are looking for. I have had good experience with a lot of their goodies.

    OK, I got it!

Driving down to Boston yesterday and I saw a hulking big SUV with one of those spinning propeller covers in it's trailer hitch receiver.

It shouldn't be too difficult to hook up one of those to MG1 or MG2... then with some sort of proximity switch... when anyone or anything gets too close... munch, munch, munch.

Is anyone here old enough to remember the Chariot Race in Ben Hur? See? That's the idea!
