It seems there are Forums for the Gen II, Gen III and Gen V on here....what about the Gen IV?

There is as yet no Gen IV (unless you count the original Japanese version). Prius V is another car model, not a generation like III.

2010 and 2011 are the same generation. Gen 1 aka Classic was the 2000-2003 sedan Prius. Gen II aka Iconic was the 2004-2009 hatchback Prius.

Somewhere, someone in Toyota's marketing department, has to be darn proud they overloaded Roman Numerals until no-one could buy their cars.

If only they had named it "Does this Prius make my rear end look big?" or the more socially unacceptable "Prius Wagon", we would not be confused.

(Just think when the do release the Gen IV Prius, we will get a bazillion posts about 'We already had a V'

Maybe Danny or one of the mods could modify the 2010 Forum title to include 2011? Maybe 2010-2011 Prius? It would help alot of new comers.

Now that the 2011 is out, referring to the 'next generation' as the 2010 makes less sense. 'Classic' and 'Iconic' sound catchy and descriptive, allowing for variations within. Maybe the 2010 and on could be dubbed 'Ironic' : the car that was accepted for being different was changed to be more like other cars so it would have a broader appeal. ;)

The v forum is for the new Prius v coming out, not a generational thing.

I'll have Danny, Tony or Evan look into changing the Gen III forum to include 2011 as well.

As everyone has stated, there is no Gen IV nor Gen V yet.

There is the upcoming Prius v wagon (v for versatility http://priuschat.com/news/2012-prius-v-information-and-specs and http://www.toyota.com/upcoming-vehicles/prius-family/).

Is there a reason you keep asking about generations? In http://priuschat.com/forums/newbie-forum/93300-prius-generations.html and http://priuschat.com/forums/newbie-forum/93283-newbie-bewnie-newbie.html, you keep asking about "solar sun roof".

The only generation of Priuses (so far) that even had factory sunroofs available of any sort is the Gen 3. So, at the moment, you must buy a 2010 or 2011 Prius w/the solar roof package. The only generation to have a solar roof available as a factory option is again the Gen 3.

If you're looking for a used one and find one prior to a Gen 3 w/a sunroof, it was aftermarket w/someone having cut a hole in the roof.

Unknown. It depends on how different the shipping product is.

If it's mostly the same as the current PHV demonstrators w/the same exterior, interior and PSD at the Gen 3, I wouldn't call it at Gen 4.

Notice below the 'Gen III' section title it mentions

'this section is a discussion of the 3rd generation Prius ... '

    and so on.

3rd gen. , 2nd gen is the correct Toyota description for the cars in the US at least.

The 'regular' Prius should go into 4th generation for model year 2016, and I'd expect it to be completely redone and available Spring of 2015.

After reading the thread title, I thought for sure this was a discussion of the front and rear quarter windows which attempt to compensate for blind-side turning and backing up.

No, it's still a Gen III.
