Greddy Informeter Touch OBD Meter

This is the first modification I start with my Prius. More and more parts are on their way as the Prius will become a promotional car for the parts I'm selling on my european car tuning shop.



The GREDDY Informeter Touch is a nice 3.5" display unit that directly plugs into the OBD port of your Prius (any year). The unit also comes with an adjustable stand and cig.ligher cable. Later is not necessary as you can power the Informeter also via the OBD port. But if you want to fully diconnect it from power souce when the car is off too then use the cig ligher cable. Otherwise it draws around 40mA in standby, Not a deal but if the car is not used for weeks in can drain the batt. The Informeter Touch has a touchscreen where all settings and controls are selected with your fingertip.

Installation: Nothing easier than that. Plug the OBD plug into the port and run the wires somewhere behind the steering column (depends on the desired location). Duration: 2 minutes



The display/headunit can be mounted where you like. I have placed the stand onto the steering column and selected the horizontal view of the values.

After startup the unit must be configured for the Prius. In the car maker section are 4 Toyota protocols, but the Prius III is using the standard ISO-CAN bus. This must be selected so the unit can communicate with the car.

This is how the installed Greddy Informeter touch looks like with 4 values displaying at once (rpm, water temp, horsepower, intake temp, all values are metric in my case)





The display can show several measures at the same time, depending on if you just want to see the numbers or also graphic bars or circle or needle meter combined together others.



The chart below shows the values that the ISO-CAN Protocol delivers for the Prius III. The values that can be metered on our cars are:

-rpm, speed, timing, throttle voltage, throttle %
- water temp, intake air temp, intake air pressure (vakuum, no sense on the Prius)
- airflow g/s, airflow %
- gear position (no sense on Prius)
- horsepower (calculated from weight, size, acceleration), trip
- fuelsystem (A/F situation feedback control)
- primary and secondary O2 sensor voltage
- battery voltage

Some more or less documented features of the Greddy Informeter Touch are:
- Max and min value warning (buzzer and flash)
- peak hold (the small amber line on the scales)
- on a bar-graph the color of the segments are changing the higher the value is. e.g. water is blue when cold (17°C) and becomes more and more green (36°C).

Power measure: I have not yet tried this feature although it works like all other do (Apexi, HKS, etc.) I do not expect wonders especially due to the fact that it lacks of an accelometer or any G-sensor. So if one adjusts the weight and car/engine type until he's getting the promised hp then it's a good start for any mods (i.e. intake, exhaust). This works as our experiences with such type of hp measurement showed 7hp average for a K&N intake system on an MR-S after about 5 test-runs. I will post results everytime when a particular modification has been installed on the car.

These informations are not part of fhe standard ISO-CAN protocol. I don't know if other universal OBD meters/displays can show these. I've seen no more information on Scangauge as one example.
