Emotional Purchase...jury still out on the car. Paid total sticker price for it, dealer would not come down one penny. And you cannot find too many on the lots here in the southeast. So far 49.5 mpg.
Aloha and Welcome, Congratulations on your purchase. Don't feel bad I paid MSRP for mine also, we may not have gotten a deal but at least we did not pay more. Check your tire pressures and give your manual a good read.
Yes, don't feel bad... many of the 2010 early owners paid full price for theirs, me included. Welcome aboard, you will make it all up in the end.
you won't get a better deal than that these days. i hope you grow to love it! what is the jury out on?
I had 2 pay full sticker on mine back in 2005 and I didn't even get the exterior or interior color I wanted but I didn't want to go on the 4 mo waiting list. After 128,000 miles I'd do it all over again. Welcome to PC!
You got yourself a peach of a car; solar roof and all; well done. Welcome to PriusChat. Enjoy the high MPGs, technology, and low emissions.
Welcome and congrats. I paid MSRP for mine during C4C. I was able to find the exact car that I wanted though but had to go to a dealer 100 miles away to do so. So, in times like these with the price of gas up and the events in Japan, you did good to go ahead and get yours now. Let us know when the jury comes in.
Sticker here also. They said they wouldnt even do Costco savings on the Prius. Not so sure about that statement.
I just bought mine--paid sticker. I couldn't find the color I wanted (searched all over west coast) but I did get the options. So far I love it.
I'm happy to say I found a dealer in the Northeast that was willing to deal and close to me too. It probably helps that I wasn't picky about color and would buy inventory. It just so happens I got lucky and this dealer had my first color choice (Blue) and trim level (III with no options) coming in their inventory on a truck in a few days. I told them what my budget was, didn't care about shortages and the blah blah. There were other dealers in the area with inventory that was the car specs I wanted. I got it for $350 over invoice and they pretty much maxed out my trade-in's KBB value! I'm quite happy with the deal given all your posts about MSRP Looking forward to joining the Prius community when I pick it up in a few days!
Welcome to PriusChat. Let us know your first impressions after you take delivery. I'm sure you'll agree it's an awesome car packed with technology and high MPGs.
Congratulations & welcome. For almost all of it's history Prius has sold at, close to, or over MSRP. It has only been during this recession that prices dropped to invoice, a condition that can't last. In the short term production has been cut while demand is firming up. In another month or so we'll realize the effects of natural forces on the Japanese auto industry.
My purchase was an emotional one as well. I had been looking for a new car/hybrid for over a month and wasn't falling in love with anything. Then I saw my Classic Silver 2010 IV pull out from the garage where Toyota had just finished certifying it, and I know that it was "the one". It looked classy and sleek (very unlike a Prius, IMO). I was willing to pay what they asked for it, even though I did get them to knock off $750. Good luck, and congrats on the new Prius!
Nicley stated...I assume that "natural forces" implies price sensitivity to supply/demand cycle. I was fortunate to become a proud Prius owner during the last of the recession.
Yes, I was aware of the factors going into the dealer, and fully expected to pay MSRP. I was very happy that they wouldn't let me "walk out the door" and cut me a deal. And now I saw on the front page of priuschat that Toyota is raising the MSPR $470! Guess I bought at just the right time.
If there's only one thing I've learned after years of working in the automotive industry it's this, "It's always cheaper to buy a car today rather than tomorrow!" Congrats on your purchase and kudos to your dealer for insisting you buy today! But I'm thinking you were smarter than the dealer by accepting the offer before prices went up.
Took delivery of the car on Saturday and am enjoying the car so far. Its taking some getting used to. I don't feel one with the car yet, but I've only driven 50 miles this weekend. I have about 150 miles to drive tomorrow so I plan on getting to know the car a little better. Definitely impressed with all the little technical features and ergonomics. And what most people don't realize about this car is how practical it is! Put our two kids into the back seat this morning in car seats no problem and fit a ton of groceries in the back with room to spare. Later I folded on half of the seat down, threw in my skis and headed to closing day at our local ski mountain. A very well thought out car and good looking too!
