The prius uses the same disk as Lexus does and the Lexus web site has lots of useful info (lexusnavigation . com). A 2005 has (I believe) a generation 4 NAV system. My 2008 is a gen 5 although I think the map coverage is identical. The Nav system uses the NAVTEQ database (navteq . com) so you can check the latest maps form your computer to see if it has what you want (although the online version could have been updated in the year or so since this latest 10.1 disk was developed. It also says that it has "supplemental roads" provided by "Tele Atlas".
I'm updating from the 7.1 disk. I'm hoping to see a few changes in the maps and LOTS of changes in the POI database. Lexus states that "Approximately 20% Points of Interest change annually".
My purchase from Toylexnavdvd has shipped - I'll try it out as soon as it arrives (hopefully early next week) and post whether it works correctly or not. The price still seems too low...

I just went out and did a hard look at the website and I must say it looks like a quicky ... Note that they say if you are not happy all you can do is exchange it. I did find other websites that give you copied data for free to burn your own and that may be where they got there info. If that is the case, you will get a message that says it does not load. I read to get past that, you need to disconnect the battery for a while and then reconnect....

Just ran across this thread. I ordered from ToyLexNavDVD on 3/7, product shipped on 3/11 and I got it on 3/23. Ordered it for my wife's '05 as a test before I do the same for my '06. The '05 was a Gen 4 and I popped in the disk and it read it just fine. Had my wife test the navigation on her next trip and it functioned correctly. She entered her destination and selected the route and then basically went a completely different way and watched/listened as the Prius kept changing the route directions to match her changes. She did the same for the route back home.

When I ordered hers, I was able to use Paypal (which went to a confirmed user) so I felt safer ordering from them even tho their website looked, as was stated earlier, a quickie. Today, I went back to order one for my '06 car and noticed that their SSL cert is now "untrusted" according to my browsers. A closer look at their cert details shows that is was issued by Comodo that was a target of hackers a couple of days ago. Now since I had already worked with them and was going to use Paypal, I wasn't too worried. But when I went to place my order, Paypal was not an option (but still listed an option on the left side of the screen). When I went to send an email asking why, their contact form spit out an error. Now, I question their site ways (they also have the bmwnavdvd . com - showing the same problems with certs) and will watch the for the next week and send them an email via the paypal route and see what answers before I put in another order.

So, bottom line. DVD order and received worked fine. Price was reasonable. Website not so good. Never used google checkout and do not want to set it up since they had (and I used) paypal.

It sounds as if yoy know this, but for other thread readers, Google checkout works in a very similar way to paypal (the vendor never sees your credit card info)

My main reason for responding was to thank you for your post. It gives me greater confidence that my $50 gamble may pay off.

When mine arrives (anytime now) I'll post a picture - assuming I'm allowed to - I don't know if I've posted enough yet to do it. I couldn't post a link the last time I tried.

So the disk finally arrived two days ago. It's an obvious duplicate and not genuine DVD (blue writable disk although the maker has used a lightscribe burner to put graphics on the disk and mimic the factory DVD). When I loaded the disk I get the message "Unable to read data - check if map DVD is correct". So...

Step 1: Disconnected the DVD player under the driver's seat. Four connectors (1 ribbon 3 square connectors). Tried a short disconnect and overnight disconnect (in case there's a capacitor or short time storage). Neither helped (but neither caused problems - original 7.1 disk still works).

Step 2: To be done (probably not until next weekend). Unplugging the DVD unit didn't delete the breadcrumbs or the forbidden areas I had set, so some data must be stored in the display unit (?) So I will disconnect the 12 V battery (and have to reset my radio etc.) and see if I can delete all the data and hopefully get things to work.

I downloaded the Toyota/Lexus North America Navigation Gen4 v10.1 ISO via torrent and burned it on a Verbatim DVD+R DualLayer disc and it installed with no problem on my '05 Prius. I used ImgBurn and set the booktype to DVD-ROM.

The info of the torrent specified:

This is the latest Navigation Maps release for the below Toyota / Lexus Models.

Will do. Just completed the download and trying to figure out how to upload it..most host sites have a 2GB max size upload limit..so I'm going to try to split the file.

Sorry, all files have been removed due to limitations of Filesonic. I will not be able to re-upload the files elsewhere, but you should be able to easily find the files with a bit of searching.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------

I was successfully able to burn a copy from this ISO using Imgburn (set booktype to DVD-ROM) and using a Verbatim DVD+R DL on a Samsung SH-S183L drive.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------
    Directions:
1.) Extract the Toyt_Gen4_ver10.1_NA.iso from the 6-part rar files.
2.) Open ImgBurn and click "Write image file to disc"
3.) Under the Source box, either browse for the ISO file or drag-and-drop it into the source box.
4.) Click on the book icon on the bottom right of the interface which will then let you select your booktype---Select the correct manufacture for your dvd-burner, select the correct media (DVD+R DL), change New Setting to DVD-ROM, and click Change, OK, and OK out of box.
5.) You can change the Write Speed, but I left it at "AWS" and it came out fine.
6.) Click on the big "Write" button on the bottom left of interface to start the burning process (it took ~40 minutes for my computer to complete it).

    Gen5 files are now up.

Please note that I have not personally tested the Gen5 file since I own a '04 Prius, but the gen5 file came from the same reliable torrent source that I acquired the Gen4 file from.

Please post up your success stories and don't forget to give Thanks!

Just tried Gen5. First time didn't work, screen in car said incorrect dvd. Gonna try again on another disc.

EDIT: Burned another disc, does not work for me for Gen5.

I also made a Gen4 disc, just waiting for my wife to get home to try that one.

Can you PM me the torrent location for Gen5?

EDIT2: The Gen4 works perfectly, thanks!
